Re: data logging a 7165 ECM

I use TurnerPro Rt. I have recently got into tuning. The 7165 ecm can be a problem connecting when datalogging. It's a crap shoot, some will datalog all day and others will only datalog for a few minutes. I can datalog for about 15 minutes before getting errors. The 7165, maf, ecm's can be problematic when datalogging. Not sure why. I've been thru about 3 ecm's with varying results when datalogging. I researched and made recommended changes to the settings to include a timeout during the data stream and that seems to help. The members on this forum are very knowledgeable and should be able to get you on the right track.

The hardware (cable that connects the ALDL link to the laptop USB port), I got from Moates.

Re: data logging a 7165 ECM

I data logged with TTS Datamaster. Since its free, I thought it would be a pretty common program to use. It seems simple enough to use, but when I posted the file and asked some questions about the results, I got next to no replies. I'm not sure why.
So, Is TunerPro RT the one eveyone uses?

Re: data logging a 7165 ECM

tunerpro rt is what I use, setting up the programs for datalogging is a pain in the ***, my 165 ecm will only datalog with the resistor on the cable in place which causes issues.

Re: data logging a 7165 ECM

I have my resistor set all the time for data logging also. I didn't know it could cause issues though? If it's not set I have a high idle. What issues can it cause?

So some months later, what did you use?
Have any results, comments or suggestions?

no , unfortunately , i hit a oak tree with my beloved camaro . to repair it would involve replacing the entire front sub structure. so , i have found another 86 IROC . its also a real "B4Z" car. that has 70,000 miles and is a one owner car . parked in 1990 due to the original owner dying. trying to score it as we speak
