V6 T5 to V8 clutch

Transmission: 5 Speed
V6 T5 to V8 clutch

I have a V6 T5 I'm mounting to a V8. I know all the bad things about this. I found a clutch kit for a 90 Astro Van with a 4.3. It has a 11" disc. Since this kit is for a 4.3 and 14 spline it should fit a 305 correct? The 4.3 305 and 350 all use the same pressure plate bolt pattern? Can anyone confirm? Thanks for the help.

Currently have a v6 t5 behind my 350. Using a v8 pressure plate and the v6 clutch disc (14spline). The gear ratios are fine-not sure what people complain about to be honest.

Thanks for the reply, so you just used the 9 1/8 standard V6 disc with the V8 pressure plate? That's what I was also hoping to do.

I used the v6/14 spline clutch disc that came with the tranny when I bought it-I tried to buy a new one for a v6 Camaro but no store could even order one. Not sure on the actual measurements though

I believe the S10 14 spline clutch disk is popular for these swaps

Assuming you're using the V8 bellhousing, Advance Adapters and Novak carry Centerforce and Luk clutch kits that use a 10.4" clutch disc with the 1" 14-spline hub, and uses the V8 flywheel with a 10.4" pressure plate. These clutch kits are in the $90- $140 price range.
The V8's larger 1.125" 26-spline input necks down to the same shaft dia in the non-splined portion, so really isn't any stronger than the V6 version. The taller V8 ratios are theoretically stronger, but the weakest length is the case anyway. No advantage to the V8 case.
V6s offered 3 different sets of ratios over the years, and if you got the early 3.50:1 first, you're good.

I'm using the clutch disc from an early 80's S10 V6, I forget the diameter now but I think it's around 9-5/8" or so. Standard Camaro V8 pressure plate and flywheel. My T5 wa original to my 92, and first gear is pretty short with 3.73 gears in the rear. I have to shift almost immediately to second, especially so when stomping on it from a stop. Also, I had to cut about an 1/8" off the tip of the input shaft, otherwise I couldn't bolt the trans to the bell housing.

There are a few vendors that sell 10.5" disks to go with 1" 14 tooth input shaft s10 T5's.
Summit has 2 and speedway has a few as well. Combine that with the v8 pressure plate and your good to go.

Yes, the 4.3, 305, and 350 flywheels can use the same pressure plate, at least with the 168-tooth versions. I know nothing about the smaller flywheels. Most aftermarket suppliers list the same part number for the flywheel on all three engines (they are the same family, after all) which would mean the pressure plate screws would be in the same locations. I myself am running a 168-tooth flywheel with an "off-the-shelf" clutch kit for the Astro van with the same size flywheel. I also have to use a scattershield as my engine wouldn't accommodate the smaller flywheel/starter combination. I haven't had any problems so far (two years and counting) but the 4.03 first gear renders my car into a 4 speed with an option to act as a smoke machine.
