Petitioning TGO to remove Third Gen Resource link
This was posted in another thread, but deserves its own. Read more about the details here.
"Well you guys asked for it, here's the petition to remove TGR from the sponsored links. I agree that these guys should be removed, especially for the sake of new members. Their business practices are terrible and should not be operating as they are. Maybe they can start their own race team and be successful, but not as a storefront. This petition will be up until the end of June."
I put up a vote here for it as well, but the petition is a much more viable method of convincing TGO to remove TGR's link.

TGO won't remove them (I would not)
I had a sub par experince with them (ebay auction) but I would not consider banning them from TGO. The more 3rd parts and service options we have the better. I think Roy and Stacey are decent people, maybe suffering growing pains (explain my experience) but with their recent LS1 swap option I still think they are trying their best to contribe to our cause.
If there is a tread that should be lock I think this is it. I havent read your experience so I can't feel what you do but I like to have as many option as possible since our cars are getting harder to find parts and accessories for.

The details of my experience (and many others') are in the link in the first post here. Petitioning their removal is completely valid and fair, and far better than just whining our heads off on this board.
I do believe that the people at F-Body Motorsports have some excellent experience in modifying thirdgens and competing with them, but their practices as a storefront are lacking at best.

FYI, the other missing link is FBodyCD.com. On a side note; it really bugged me that they were profiting from GM's copywritten material. Yes it is valuable infrmation (which is why I invested nearly $152 for the data in the form of microfiche and another $70 for a microfiche viewer for my own personal use), but it just isn't right to profit from someone elses material. Sorry, but misinterpreting the "Fair Use Law" as somehow giving them legal right to distribute the material is no excuse. Getting down off my soapbox now.

quick question here.....any good places to find camaro parts? i need to find a few body pieces, and i figured thirdgen resource might have been my best bet since most of these junk yards around here are slim pickin's. aside from ebay, our classifides, and a more thurough search in junk yards, are there any websites that will offer the quality of service that so few apparently got from TGR?

But the webmaster sure acted quickly here. I sent him a magazine article months ago that he hasn't put up yet, so I was beginning to wonder if there really was a webmaster anymore.
I'm sure he's very busy, and he probably saw an article about the Z28 vs. the Mustang AGAIN and might've thought it was the one already up from 1982. But it's not up. It's the C&D issue with the 1983 Z28 HO(L69) against the 1983 Mustang. That was a "pivotal" moment for us and an important issue, IMO.
By the way, I abstained from voting against ThirdgenResource. But that's not my one vote to spare them. I support the death penalty, but I can't in good conscience cast it upon anyone, lol--even though I've also had some weird experiences with them too. I'm guessing that the higher-ups in TGO tried calling TGR to give them a chance to redeem themselves and they didn't return their phone calls. Something tells me that if they didn't send me my visors yet, I'm never going to see them now!

I bagged a set of Microfiche covering 82-90 from eBay for dirt cheap- $20, maybe? Of course that was 3 years ago and I still haven't gotten a microfiche machine... I keep thinking about going to the library and printing out every page- but then I wonder what happens when I leave- the library might try to accuse me of stealing microfiche!

only met roy once and he was a stand up guy at the time. have no business dealings with him so my opinion doesn't count towards this but from what i did gather i would have gave him a chance if needed on something.....either way it's unfortunate to hear how people have been treated and if it is in fact what's going on then i'm glad to see some action taking place.

I may be in the minority here, but I wouldn't hesitate to do business with either of the third gen businesses (Fbodymotorsports/Thirdgen Resource and Hawks) mentioned. I have known them since they were partners 5 years ago.

heres my deal: I've never used them, nor will I, simply b/c I try to find more local sources(c'mon folks...Detroit is 25 minutes straight down the road from me....!).
HOWEVER, since i'm into corporate law and such, I've come to some conclusions after reading tons of posts about them, which were both good and bad.
1.) If they're going to change their name, then IMOLO(In My Own Legal Opinion-(not legal advice!)), they should at LEAST post this on their business site for a reasonable amount of time(reasonable= any amount of time that one would reasonablly consider from both sides of any given point), such as 1 or even 2 weeks.
2.) Since they are a family run business, they should disclose that they are such, and that therefore some orders may or may not take longer than others. Meaning that they should probablly post this on their site in some sort of noticable manner to the consumer. IE: "Family run since XXYY".
3.) It's always a good business practice to alert a client when a service or good will soon become or already is, out of stock!
4.) From what it sounds like, they need to hire a new receptionist! Every business I know of has the common sense and $5.00 to buy a memopad for when customers call!
HOWEVER, i WILL give them the fact that the receptionist did tell someone that the person they were looking for was not good about returning calls, but for petes sake...at LEAST get the clients name & number and time of call! Hell, it could be 6 months, and as long as someone called me back and said they had just now found, came across, located, or were given my message to call me back with just a name and number, I'd feel that it was better than not calling back at all!
Anyhow, thats just my half cent on the whole situation.

At least in the case of Fbodymotorsports, the reason for the name change should be obvious to anyone who has been around to see their business grow. It has nothing to do with evading anyone. When this business started, they sold only used parts for third gens. Then they added new parts for thirdgens, first original type stuff then performance parts. Along the way they started offering parts for 4th gens also, both new and used, added a dyno, started doing tuning and installations, etc. The business simply outgrew its name, and needed to be changed to better describe its offerings. There are businesses in the F-body community that have avoided phone calls, relocated 100s of miles away, and reopened under different names with different phone #s, but this isn't one of them. Anyone who has ever dealt with them and is on their email list knew about the name change well before it happened anyway.

I inferred from 305Tiger's post that the name change was not available on their web site; why not, if that is indeed the case? It suggests that the business has something to hide. Those on the mailing list do not constitute the site's only visitors.
The vast majority of those who wanted to see the banner gone have legitimate gripes (and some have SEVERAL legitimate gripes!) - based on this and nothing else, I won't even consider sending them my money unless they're willing to do a C.O.D.

Everbody seems to think the name change was some kind of conspiracy! If TGR wanted to "hide" the name change, dont you think they would have changed their phone number? In case you haven't noticed, most people's websites are terribly outdated and don't always reflect current prices, changes in business, etc. Is it ideal? No. They did make an attempt to advertise their name change, though, and don't hide the fact that they used to be Third Gen Resource. Its a clear case of a company outgrowing its name, and changing it to better suit its new markets.
I can't comment on customer service issues or problems anyone else has had, but I haven't had any personally. Like many businesses who advertised on this site, they grew very quickly and apparently made some mistakes. Still, I have faith in the owners to do the right thing, and wouldn't hesitate to do business with them.

TGR or FBM...which ever you want to call them are A+ in my book. Like the man up top says...they made some mistakes Im sure but hey everybody does.

Dude, nobody has said anything in a week. If you want us to shut up about it, as if we haven't already, then stop bringing this thread to the top. Robertg has already asked me if he should close this thread.
