Ha!

I have most of the videos cut up now. On the long end of the track the sun rendered the LCS viewfinder basically useless. So in the video I lost some of the cars. If somebody wants a video of their run in higher quality (most are under 5 megs) and in 640x480 and under 10 megs let me know and I will mail them a copy of the file.

Mad max has won the best impersonation of KITT award.....you'll see.......

I may have to give this a try some time, it looks pretty fun!

I got them also from the downloaded versions. I know the ones I sent Mike were good. Mike needs to verify that the ones he received via e-mail aren't corrupted. It may be when he uploads them to the server is where they are getting corrupted.

The only ones that worked for me was;

Mikes 1st in car
Deans 1st atfer run showing time blip
Chris' 1st run
Bretts run

Everything else is coming up scrambled text.

From Mikes in car camera run,boy am I still way off on how the track layout was. I still found myself about to steer the wrong way on his video until I watched it the third time and had the course memorised. It helps tremendously to walk the course and memorize mental notes like "after the sweeper loopback its four gates of left side, right , left, right, then back on left for block cone jont section"/ Mental notes to self go sweep,left,right,left,right- left jont right, left, right, left/ right turn switchback (left across line). This represents two of the four sections of course needed to memorize. You can see how much easier if you walk the course and then mentally goover this in your head 30 times with your eyes closed before ever running.

Dean, this is the actual layout of the track, as per Solo2.com.

Thanks George, I did finally get it correct on my last sketch.

I finally saw everyone's vidios today including my second and third runs. For some reason only the 4 links I posted above are working on my home computer but I was able to link them at one of the tiles store's T2 connection that I frequent.

Mike, You made a comment on my third run about me being kind of choppy and I have to agree with you- I was half the time. I have stated that I was guessing on about half the corners on exit as to which way I am to be pointed coming out of them. I was making many quick last minute corrections (yet trying to be smooth about it- but was lossing time in thoise mistakes).

If you watch my second and thrid runs compared to everyone elses, Coming out of that last cone jont I was really setting far to the right where everyone else come out left heading for the next gate. I lost a good 1 second just right there on each run from my mistake not walking the course. Its pretty clear on the video. I keep taking the blue line when I should be tighter on the yellow line. Consequently you see me tighten down and pinch the last gate where I drift through it with the *** end. (purple X)

My major mistake on the third run is the red circle. I damn near DNF'ed that run and missed the last gate, had to almost come to a stop to turn that car in the correct direction. I was very choppy and lost.

Its nice having the video's to critique the runs, "Thank you guys!" for doing that and taking the time to edit and post them.

Yea, the video's show alot, especially in car ones.

I'm sure we all would have run a little better (especially the first run) had we walked the course.

James was giving me $hit non stop until he had a chance to review my in car footage. It wasn’t until then that he could really appreciate the improvisation after the chalk lines disappeared. It’s a shame we were stuck in line registering for so long otherwise we might have had a chance to walk the course like the others. I don’t think it would have changed the outcome any but it would have been nice to know what was next.

The first time I saw the Mike's in-car footage I could understand the chaos that you all must have gone through, especially in the chicanes. I would have done a mid-70's time the first time I went through, if I even finished it correctly. To try and go ***** out on that course without walking it first must have been some rush.

I would like to try your in car camara setup the next time everyone goes again(I Hope) How much hassle is it to mount in the car? Can it be done at the track?

Since I built it I can answer this question for him. It takes about 5-10 minutes to mount. Its pickup points are the aftmost screw in the door sills and the "bolt for the rear seats. You can see in the picture below how it is done.

I can’t even begin to tell you what an awesome tool that truss has become. James and I have used it for almost everything road racing, drag racing, canyon running, auto crossing, etc. People lie, Data Master and video cameras mounted in cars don’t.

As a matter of fact the only proof of my 12.32 pass in the Bunny we have is the in car footage in which you can hear the announcer state both my name and E.T. But I think we’ll keep that one tucked away until someone (other than Jerry) breaks my “existing” record.

Here we go…finally we’ve got some action! I can vouch for Dean’s skills with the cones and I certainly can vouch for the magic that happens when you get down on your knees but as far as straight line action goes…you need to put the keys down, step away from the vehicle, before you hurt yourself…

Must have been at Carlsbad in January with a cool sea breeze providing a tail wind. I bet it was not at Fontana where you mostly get headwinds, bad atmospheric conditions and track prep. Still when all said and done a very nice run guys. Allen

Thanks Ken but I have to say that I have enough experience behind a wheel to know that learning a perticular car and its "attitude" off the line at different rpms is a major factor in drag racing. The only thing that gets you great in any perticular car is practice, practice, practice coming off the line. Now as for shifting? I can throw a shift with the best of them- but anyone that can drive worth beans can do the same, its not brain surgury. Its won or lost at the line, the rest of the race is the car. You never ever worry about racing someone else sitting in a lane next to you- fact is, they do not exist. Its you and the lights, and what rpm to hold at the line- thats it. (exception- unless you have that little secret button to press and know just what gear, speed, and rpm you can get away with it to its fullest potential)

At most, I have so-so experience launching even my Vette. That car is very tough and I have never driven it with drag slicks. It has always had a roadrace suspension setup. It is best to roll out and then nail it double clutching it about 15mph. With a 40lb flywheel and a powerband of 3200-8500rpms, its an impossible car to launch on street tires.

Speaking of races- I am off right now to Speedway up at City of Industry. Sidecar motrcycles are racing tinght. Starts at 7:30

The announcer was talking about the other car Say Mike, get your car together and come back to see if you can hang with the straight line boys if you have the heart other wise put your dilldoh back in the closet

Thats not much of a ringing endorsement for a run thats ~.3 seconds faster than second place AND with a six speed.
