Upgraded to H4 headlights and they are DIM
I "upgraded" to H4 headlights using a kit I bought on eBay. The kit did not include wiring instructions so I had a friend who does all kinds of aftermarket installations at a stereo shop do the wiring for me. He got the bulbs to work, but I have to kick them up on high just to get the low beam light out of them. If I leave them on low they are so dim that you can't safely drivej the car, and since they work only set on high I no longer have real, actual high beams any longer. What gives? Do I need to upgrade the fuse or relays or something to allow for the greater power requirements of the H4s over the stock sealed beams?

If yours are those fake projector looking housings, there is the problem. Everyone I've seen try them has switched back to sealed beam, usually Silverstars (including me), or gone all-out for a true Projector setup.

If you bout the same kit i did then you are probably using the halogen bulbs it came with. try either buying the hid h4 kit or better halogen bulbs.

When I bought mine I had to buy a H4 Harness from Matrix to run the lights straight from the battery. Really made a difference in the light output.
Summit Racing Part Number GRM-01-133

I've been looking at this harness, and the question I have is how many harnesses did you need for all the lights, high beam and low beam?

The harness is not really worth it, I bought it from Summit last year when I tried the H4 switch and the harness just complicated things more. You only need one and it is supposed to work both hi and lo beams. Mine actually made both hi and lo on when switched to hi beams and no lights when on lo. If you look around the threads there are ways to re work your stock light plugs for these to work right without a harness.

I did the h4 kit years ago and everything plugged in fine but housing was not oriented right the light pattern was flipped the highbeams would point lower than the low beams. I flipped the housing upside down even though it said "this side up" and now they work great. Its worth a shot.
