Autobodypartsonline Quality Fender!

Look at this quality for $175. Man I'm lucky! It even comes with other dents, too!

First, I contacted autobodypartsonline about the dented fender they shipped me and they said "Not our problem, we don't send dented parts, take it up with the shipping company." So I did that, and they were actually courteous, and sent out an inspector to take pics, etc. The inspector just left my house and said that shipping company was most likely going to deny the claim that they damaged the part. He said my best bet is to suck it up and take it to a bodyshop and use my money to repair it. He said that autobodypartsonline will likely continue to deny they send crappy parts and that I probably will never get anywhere with it, so again, I am screwed. On autobodypartsonline policy page, it says that you should not refuse a shipment, even if the part is damaged, because they will charge you double shipping, and that you may file a complaint later. Yea, you can do that, and I did that, but they won't do crap about it. Fact is, the part was damaged before they shipped it because the box was undamaged, but autobodypartsonline doesn't care because in the end, you can't do a damn thing about it unless you are willing to spend thousands on a lawyer. Once again, the customer takes it in the *ss.

Next time I need a part for my car, I'm going to melt aluminum cans into a big block and then hammer it into the shape of the part I need and make it my damn self. Not only will it be cheaper, but I'll probably save time in the long run.

:sillylol: :sillylol: :sillylol: Your probably right!
If more people would read their disclamer, Im sure that they would do alot less buisness. You sould call the Better Busness Bureau, and see what they can do. Then again, arent they a Canadian company? If it were me, I would be on the phone with them every day screamin untill they made it right.

Actually they are in California. And of course they have no toll free number.

Oh yea, and most of the time when I call, I get put on hold for 12 minutes.

And I will contact the Better Business Bureau.

Thanx

iceman,

Well, you can take some consolation in this. I was seriously considering using them for a lot of parts: a hood, fender, bumper cover any many other parts, probably $800-$1,000 worth of stuff total. After reading your post, I will never do business with them. I’d rather spend more and deal with people who stand behind their products and take responsibility for these kinds of things rather than blame the customer when things beyond the customer’s control happen. So thanks for your post.

In addition to contacting the Better Business Bureau, you could send a certified letter to the owner or president of the company and ask him why he will not make this order right. Certified mail is admissible in a court of law, and sometimes its enough to get people to act. In the letter outline the facts clearly and state what you want them to do about it. Also as a follow up, create another post here with the heading ‘Autobodypartsonline ripped me off’ or ‘gives terrible customer service’ or something like that so people know without even reading the post that they suck.

I used to work in mail order and the shipping and packing of the part falls back on the company. They are the ones that packed it if they didn't do a good enough job and it got damaged it's their fault and they should replace the part then they can go after the delivery company. Also if you paid by credit card contact your card and let them know what is going on and that you were shipped a damaged part and not to pay the company and they should let the company know that payment is being stopped until the problem is solved. I had to do it with a company that put a headliner in my car and did a very bad job.

Thanks, bird. I guess I'll contact my cc company again and see what can be done about my case. But my main goal here is going to be to try to keep other thirdgen members from getting ripped off!

They usually don't wind up looking any better from any other aftermarket company, or even from GM for that matter. My father rarely gets the pleasure of unboxing, sanding and shooting any body panels. He's always got to repair them.

I pulled this off the BBB website after I filed my complaint. NOTICE the other names that Autobody Parts online uses and beware!!

We rate this company as having an unsatisfactory business performance record based on a pattern of unanswered complaints alleging bait and switch pricing and false advertising. Complainants allege they order items from this company's website which are listed with current price information. After confirming the price, and authorizing payment, they discover the company substantially raises the price of the item after they receive their credit card statement. Other customers complain that items purchased are advertised with no shipping charges; however, when credit card statements arrive, the shipping charge sometimes exceeds the price of the item. One customer alleges he was charged $42.50 for shipping a 2 pound item which cost $11.99. To date, all complaints are unanswered. California consumer protection law declares it unlawful for any company to place untrue or misleading ads to induce the public to enter into an obligation to purchase if the intent is not to sell at the advertised or stated price. Whenever a price is mentioned in advertising, any extra charges should be disclosed in immediate conjunction with the price. Some examples might include, delivery, installation, assembly, travel charges, or shipping and handling. An asterisk may be used to impart additional information about a word or term which is not in itself deceptive. The asterisk should not be used as a means to contradict or change the meaning of the ad, and should be clearly and prominently disclosed. The Better Business Bureau does not endorse, recommend or disapprove of any product, service or company.

I got my money back

Dont take it like a man. They shipped it insured. I got my check yesterday. Here is what you do. You tell the shipping company its insured and by law they have to refund you the money. IF they dont then talk to your bank and tell them and they will dispute the claim. They wont mess with bank lawyers

Shipping company sent out a third party inspector to see if it was damaged during shipping. The report he mailed to me and the shipping company says it was damaged before it was shipped because the box had no marks or damage on it. Autobodypartsonline is still refusing to do anything about it even though legally with that report they have to, so unless I want to take them to court, they seem to not even care. I tried to dispute the charges with my cc company because I was sent a damaged part, but then they require me to send the part back under shipping costs that I cannot be reimbursed for. So then I would have no fender, but be out $100 for shipping. Every time I call Autobodypartsonline (Part Components Intl.), they tell me they don't know what I'm talking about and that they have never heard from me or the shipping company; last time I talked to them, which makes about 20 calls to them now, they suggested I go online and just order another fender from them! So I replied with "Lady, I'm never ordering a damn thing from you again! Especially to replace a damaged part YOU sent me!"

-'til next time, folks!
