Photo Hacking Wanted Please

Ok, Will be attempting to do some appearance work to car this spring/summer. Have a few ideas.

Can I get...

1. Same color, add mirrored window tent, 1" drop.

2. Metallic Blue, mirrored window tent, 1" drop.

If you want to add any sorrta rim, shave door molding, emblems, blister packs, white stripes, all up to you, but them are main two I am wanting.

I like the smoked on the teal, but mirror better on the blue.

Deff needs the 1" drop, didnt know car sagged that much in back, LOL

Still accepting any other pics that get modded.

dale your car is almost identical to mine except you have the painted wheels and i have t tops you have a very nice looking car

if you want to paint it blue you should look into a shade of blue that isn't anything like the blue on the mid-80's camaros, that color got way too played out, blue is one of my favriote colors but i'd never paint my camaro blue

Right, it wont be normal blue. We have been looking at a few different colors, but it MUST be one that we have not seen on a camaro.


Thanks for complements on car. That is the good side. Other side the front left fender, and nose is buggered up. Before we got it someone thought they could slap bondo over the rubber nose and hold. :nono: . I have connection to get them parts (both) for 40 bux.

We have Iroc hood in back yard, and blisterpacks under the bed.

We are also quickly noticing it needs rims.

thats pretty funny your cars good side is the passenger side and my cars good side is the driver side ( i have a dent in the pass fender) between the two we would have a perfect car

i'm thinking about polishing my rims just to try it what can it hurt? i have two sets of them may as well try something this summer

I just want to get some aftermarket, around 16" or 17"

I plan on doing fender and nose first. Trying to decide to go ahead and start sanding, or paint them to match for now, and color change later.

polishing the z28/88SC/RS rims are fun, unless you have the 91-92 style then it should be an easy job to do.

Going by picture, front does look pretty low. But I think it needs to be lowered at least in the back. At least make it even all the way around.

Cant wait to paint it though. Just torn b/t the blue and green. More I'm looking at the blue the more I'm liking it. But I've yet to see how it would look in dark green. Gonna go with stripes too when we get the blister hood on. Thinking silver stripes.

85sc those are some sweet rims on your car, what do you mean if i have the 91 style rims it will be harder to do? I have the same rims as dale and yourself on my 91rs but in grey instead of painted, is there a difference between yours and mine that would make them difficult to polish?

What I ment was the rims we have are hard as he!! to polish with professional tools or by hand, to me thats the fun part "doing something thats difficult." The 91-92 Z28/RS rims that are basically flat where as our rims are recessed which makes ours much harder to polish.

I see now, could you maybe post a thread with a few pics and a little step by step on how you did it to get that smooth look i would like to try this on my spare set of rims then if i think i did good enough do it to the good set, the foggy clear coat and grey paint just don't cut it anymore

I only have a few pics of the after polishing results. But heres one that I took after polisihing.
What kind of technique are you going to use?Hand polish or spend some $ to get die grinder,sanding rolls, da sander, da sander paper, polishing wheels, air compressor, polishing wheels and compounds.

Basically what I do is start out by using an auger to get rid of lip inbetween the outer ring of the rim and the ressed star part. And alos getting rid of the step between the top of the ressed star and the sides of the star.
Next I would use a da sander with 80 grit sand paper and get rid of any casting marks, and smooth everything out the best I can. Then go over the entire rim with 180, and 320 grit. Then I would use my die grinder with 120 to get all the tight spots and slicking the triangle inbetween the stars. THen I would go over the same spots with 400grit to finish off the hand prep work.
Next I would use my bench grinder with a sisal wheel with black grease to polish the rim to a dull shine. Then a sewn cloth wheel with tripoli grease to get a good shine in the alluminum and then using a loose buffing wheel with white grease to finish the rim off.
I dont ever polish anything by hand NEVER, it takes too long and you'll be luck if you can get the same results that I can with professional equiptment. Hopefully soon my polishing shop will be finished and I will be able to polish rims and about anything else for anyone.

Those look so sweet, i think i'll try one of my spare ones early this summer and if it goes well i'll do my good ones. if not i'll contact you, i'm not too far from arkansas when i'm at school. i already have a good compressor, die grinder and da sander, i was lookin in the eastwoods catalog and they have some polishing kits so now i know what you are talking about with the different buffing wheels and such, i just hope to see my car soon

Good luck, polishing is a hard technique to get right but when you do its just awesome to see what you can do. Especially when you polish a stainless oil pan and it looks like it has been chromed.

The thread is like 11 years old, but good to have a heads up. I doubt he did more than the one wheel anyhow. LOL I had ambitions of doing that to my spare set after I got my Irocs. Let me tell you, he wasn't joking about how labor intensive it is. I stopped at one wheel and traded the set to my body guy. He still to this day hasn't done the other three.

Looks kinda silly when I replied to a post that got deleted.
