16" IROC wheels

Does anyone know how to get the clear coat off of the 16" al wheels with out scratching them up? My clear coat is turning yellow and some spots have peeled off.

I remember reading a post about this where the guys used really high strength stripping chemicals. I dont remember the name but you just let it soak it and you can scrub it off after it loosens things up.

Carb cleaner!? Your buddie's clear coat must have been in some kind of sorry shape for carb cleaner to remove it. I couldn't get my clear coat off even after multiple applications of the gel type paint stripper. I finally gave up and paid a guy to sand-blast my rims.

That may be fine for unicolor, but I have gold/silver rims? I WAS going to take mine to a local place "turbax" who repaired one of my chipped GTP rims and they did an AWESOME job, but I can't find them where they used to be. I hope they just moved. Anyway, I still have to get a quote from them, hoping not to have to spend more than $300 for all four to be restored to new ...
