About to add GFX...What color?
I'm near to completing my aero package for my 83 and want some input from all of you as too what color to go.
This is going to be my winter project, so no rush to get it done, just done right.
I'm thinking of going with the same red as the car, and leave the small black stripes, just above the GFX.
Here are some pictures I got off the web, to give you some idea of what the different color schemes would look like.
Thanks,
Leon.

I like cars w/o Ground effects better myself, yours is beautiful the way it is, but if you insist on putting on the effects, I think Black would look better, plus your car had the black around the bottom originally, so it would kind of hint at that. just my

I will have to agree on leaving the GFX off the car as it looks amazing as is.
If you must put them on, then paint them black. '82-'84's look great two-toned.
If you are going with solid grille inserts then I would like to buy your current grilles, as my silver car is ready to be on the road again after a full year and really needs them...

For some reason I always think these cars look weird without ground effects. I like the low sleek look. So I vote for body color that 1st picture looks good keep the gills or whatever black too.

Put the GFX on and leave them the same as the body color. I also like the small pic that doesn't have the louvers, just a same colored piece covering it up.
It looks more modern and helps get rid of the 4x4 look.

My first thought is to leave them off. The car looks so clean with out them.
If you are going to do it though...I would say go with silver GFX and decals. Basically clone the red and silver 84 W62 you posted. I think the silver would really work well with the polished wheels. But that is alot of work.
The easiest route would be paint them black, and leave the small lower body striping. I never cared for the larger 84 striping in black.
Good luck, I am sure it will look great either way.
Edit...after going through this thread again, your car looks great w/o them. Ive got to say, leave em off.

wow thats a tough one for me , black is out , dont do it , it makes the car look like it doesnt have gfx and makes it look high , so it between silver and red , but i think all red looks nice, even though my car is red and silver i dont think the red and silver looks good with those gfx, so i guess body color.

i like the body color as well but you have seen my car and know my style, one color, no chrome, and no decals. on your car i dont really think you could go wrong though. body color would modernize it while black would keep it looking like an original early bird. both are cool looks if you ask me. all i know is i cant wait for pics, you do some good work.
