82-84 Camaro fascia: Leave it or toss it?
Well, I am in the process of rebuilding my motor, while I am at it I would pay attention to the body as well. My question is: I have the original 84 fascia on my car, the chin spoiler is cracked like seemingly everyone one of these. I was thinking about chasing down another chin spoiler or do a newer style front clip. It seems to me the more I see on here everyone pitches this front end. I know parts are a pain to get for it, but I sorta like it because it is different and I really don't feel like changing the front clip to be honest. Yet everywhere I look on here everyone has pretty much swapped this section off there older camaros. So the question is should I leave it and find the spoiler or just toss it in favor of a newer style?

Car: 83 z28
Engine: 305 for now
Transmission: 5 speed
i'd say keep it, my old 84 had a 86 front end on it , while my 83 has the original and i like the 82-84 better anyway. to me it fits in with the rest of the car better.

Depends on your color scheme. If you are keeping the ground effects a different color then the rest of the car, then keep the 82 - 84 bumper.
However if your doing the car all one color, then I think it looks better with the later bumper.

I kept the original '82 GFX on my first repaint back in '97 and plan to again on the next starting next summer.Bad enough I still get the dreaded "is that an Iroc?" after all these years.I want something to differentiate it from the later years.

Hmmm, didn't suspect i was going to get as many keep it responses as this. It would be alot less hassle. I think the one thing that really keeps nagging me in the back of my mind is that when I bought the car I got a Ram Air II hood with it and I am figuring it won't be so hot with the older style front end. I need the hood clearence for the new intake, maybe I should go with the original fascia and just toss the RA II hood and get a cowl.
Here it is right now sitting in my driveway: (blown up motor and all )
Don't know why the sheetmetal looks so wrinkly in this pic as the car is VERY straight.

I say sell the ram air hood and find a small cowl to replace it then put it on the car as is.
