Awesome '89 Formula in Hemmings Muscle Machines

Got the new issue in the mail the other day and thought I'd share this particular article with everyone else if they havn't seen it already. It's only the second third gen I've ever seen featured in this magazine, so I thought that was pretty cool. And besides that, I think this is a very impressive car. Does anyone know if this guy's a member on here?

I hope the text isn't too small.

I've seen that car in an early issue of GMHTP magazine. I'll have to pick that up at the newsstand.

I saw that when I got my copy - It is an impressive car, and equally impressive it's covered in HMM. It's about damn time!

Are you kidding me? 25mpg w/an est. 450hp is good in my book. There's a reason why there's no H emblem on the hood.

Interesting that he has a cage, but that harness goes straight down to the floor. Isnt that kinda dangerous?

With the way his cage is ran I don't think you could bolt the harness to it very easily. It doesn't have the normal cross bar right behind the drivers seat. From what it looks like it has them bolted in where the rear seats bolt into the floor which should hold just fine.

Re: Awesome '89 Formula in Hemmings Muscle Machines

I remember reading about that car in GMHTP. I think I still have the issue. I love the fact that he kept the car looking bone stock. The Formula is one bodystyle that needs no modifications!

I think they did the Silver State Classic open road racing and hit a pretty high top speed with a 2.59 gear. That must be awfully scary due to the way Formula's like to get light in the front end at high speeds due to lift and also small road imperfections make the car REALLY wobbly.
