Sliptone Liquid Metal Polish on TPI Runners!

So today while I was painting a hood for a neon and bumper for a corolla I decided I would try this new liquid metal polish that autofinishers.inc gave me to try. I tried it on my 87 I-ROC with the original TPI runners I had. I had 3 varying grades, coarse (red), medium (medium) and fine (blue). I was told all I needed was some ultra fine 0000 steel wool and 2 old shirts. So here is everything I needed. I used an old white shirt and an old pillow case. Figured both are cloth... I was supposed to use one to wipe it down between and one to finish.

Here is my 50k Original tpi set up and what it looks like.

I first started with the red coarser polish. Applying a quarter size splash of it to the steel wool. It covered a lot for so little!

Wiped it down with the pillow case, not much progress but still ways to go.
Next I did the green medium grade with a new thing of steel wool for just the green.'

Wiped it down and did the blue grade with another new steel wool. (So I have a separate steel wool for all three grades. I just keep them separately with their respective grades.)

So I wiped it down. Doesn't look like much of any difference at all! Then I took my old white t-shirt(the finishing one) to run that over. And it started shining unlike before!

I tried it on the AC lines and it shines them up very nicely!
I did a spare runner that I had kept from an 89 Iroc that I parted out. Here is the result.

I plan on just leaving it like it is for now until something breaks and then when I have to take it all apart I will do the rest of the runners. Car literally only has 50k on it, so I do my best to leave it stock.

It unfortunately doesn't do much for the plenum. I did it several times and scrubbed really hard too. It has to have some sort of different coating or density to it. I ran a spare plenum I had through a wire wheel brush and then did the polish and here is what i got.

I dont know how much of a shine your going to get off of that high spackled surface on the plenum. But the runners look amazing! You have inspired me to do mine as well.

Re: Sliptone Liquid Metal Polish on TPI Runners!

for sure the plenum needs to be sanded down smooth for ANY polish to work. Judging by the looks of what it did for the runners though, seems like some pretty good stuff. Sand a small part of that spare runner smooth and try again. It'll shine even more if you start with a smooth level surface. The results of the polish are impressive. Might have to try that stuff myself. Can you buy online?
