Digital dash info

I've never seen a digital dash in person and all the pics i have seen have had it when its off. Could some one post some pics of one when is on? I'm curious on what it looks like. Also I've read that the HVAC controls are different, could some one post of pic of that too? I'm just curious...

This is for both pontiac and chevy dashes.
Thanks,

Matt

Thanks Zepher. I was having trouble hosting the pics at the time I posted them. The problem has since been resolved and will not happen again. Now, try to keep on the topic, thanks.

Is that dash worth getting? There is a GTA at one of the local yards with one, not sure if it works or how much they want for it, but it does look pretty cool.
How good is the tach? Is it pretty quick or does it lag a bit?
Will the speedo go past 85mph? A friend had a Berlinetta and when you went past 85mph it would just flash "85".

It's pretty sweet. I love it, but some of the LED's are out, so I need to try to fix that. The tach works pretty good, I'm not sure how accurate it is, I have not checked it. The speedo goes past 85, I've had mine at 125mph.

Yes, the speedo goes WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY past 85.

And is it worth it... well, thats all realative to taste really. You basically have to rewire the ENTIRE car, minus the engine harness. You need the headlight and engine accessory harness, COMPLETE interior harness, coolant tank, and possibly (havent confirmed this yet) the tail light harness. Youll also need the enitre HVAC setup (minus the heater box) The reason you need all these things is because the center "data center" will tell you if and what bulb is out, your coolant level, what door is open, average speed, etc etc. Im doing this to my GTA because we already have a full donor cars worth of parts, and beings that I love the dash so much, I figured why not?

I can do that for you. I'll be heading up there when it warms up, I hate going to the yards when it's cold outside.
I'll email you a price next week when I call them and find out how much they want.

1 Just got myself an 87 GTA digital dash. I have some questions I am hoping someone can help me with. The button next to my system check screen does? Do you have to hold it? What does it mean when it says "BUS E L" and a whole bunch of other codes like that

That sounds like a malfunction to me. When you press the button, its supposed to cycle through all the things it checks.

And Zepher, sounds great, thanks man!

Is there anything I can do to fix it or somewhere to have it looked at? I'm in Phoenix, AZ. Down the street from Jimmy's Radio Who do all GM's computer and electronics repairs in this area but they say there is nothing they can do. And when it does work which is about 95% of the time I always get a "F LAMPS" code but the front lamps all work good and I cant find any sensor leads anywhere. Any ideas

You should just push the button, then it will cycle through everything and make sure you are good to go. I'll try to get some pics tonight. What other poblems are you having?

Most of the time when I hit the button it cycles through other times it says "BUS E L" then if i push it again it goes to "BUS C L" and continues through different letters. And it says my "F LAMPS" but they are all working fog and marker. Is there a sensor or a wire lead I can check? Oh and my rear view mirror has the auto adjust but when i flip it to auto it just starts flipping out?

That would be nice to know. I haven't been driving it to much until I really get a chance to snoop around under the hood but Still a good idea to know where they should run

My oil varies depending on how high my engine is running.

I think I might have a sending unit problem it tends to jump around a little even when the RPM hasn't changed.

As for the temp it seems to run about 80 (I think)? please let me know if that sounds about right next time you go out.

Thanks for all your info,
Preston

Are you sure that isn't from right to left? that second car looks like the Z28... don;'t know too much about firebirds though.

Edit: Well done on pick up a 92 GTA, only one of 500 -> good find.
