Hey guys I have replaced my door pins from TDS and that did not seem to do the trick. What other options can i do/try to solve the problem of lagging doors?

Sorry I just hate it when people post what they dont know about.

back to the origional question... look at the body where the hinges attact. is the metal bent, dented, warped, or otherwise damaged? its possible that the actual hinges are out of alignment. To fix mine I used a floor jack to lift up on the door a bit with it open about 1/2 way while I loosened the hinge bolts then ree-tightened them after the hinges shifted. for me this was just a bandaid fix untill I get new upper pins from Lon or elsewhere.

That's funny, I also got my kit from Lon at TDS and mine came with the bottom hinge that doesn't exist lol. Anywho, they body man that put mine in at the paintshop said those were the best hindge kits he had ever seen. The car is back to rolling out of GM factory quality.

I am suprised to hear your's didnt get the job done. Change the bottom and check the hinges themselves like Stealty-One had mentioned.

I mean, look in my sig, you can see how far down the front of the door lays by looking at that molding accross the middle of the car. My door would scrape on the aero kit, the aero kits are black now instead of maroon....until I get it back that is.

Dude.replace the lower pin if you havent. you should be able to do that on your own. you can find them at any auto parts store. if that doesnt solve the problem have some one open it while you take a good look at the hinges. compare it with the passenger door. if all looks good and the door swings open as it should the door might be missed aligned. i here its a b!tch to align. LON sells the alignment tool. good luck.

In some cases the door will need to be aligned after you repair it using the hinge repair kits I sell. The reason for this is that the hinges themselves have actually bent due to the heavy weight of the door and the length the weight is cantilevered off the hinge. Unfortunately you can't determine if the hinge is bent until after you've repaired the hinge pins and bushings. The alignment tool I sell is perfect for accomplishing the re-alignment yourself and saving the cost of having a body shop do it. You'll have to justify buying the tool vs. the price a body shop would charge. My personal experience is that if I can buy the tool for the same or less than the shop would charge me I'm ahead, since I'll have the tool available to do this again in the future. You'll also be a popular guy at your next club meet. "Door alignment problem? Here I can fix that", two minutes later you've got a new buddy.

Not to steal the thread, but I just got back from the body shop and I checked out the hinge kit from LON and it did wonders. I used to have to slam the door to shut and now you barely press it and it goes right in at ease. Awesome.

I do have your alignment tool, didnt seem to due the trick either. I might just be better off replaceing the entire hinge on both doors. And yes I did already try to loosen the bolts to the hinge and realigne the door when the door was jacked up and level where it should be..... When i tighten the bolts back and release the jack, the door slumps back down to its original position where i started from. And im sorry i should have worded what i said before. I bought the pin repair kit from TDS, at the time i wasnt thinking of a seperate lower pin due to the fact i didnt have to buy it seperate... it came with the kit.. Thanks to all who jumped on my case!
