hey my name is jared and i have a 89 trans am 305 auto. there are a few things that i want to fix with the body but im having trouble find the parts. first off i think i just need new weather stripping but if i would want to replace the hatch where would be a good play to look. also someone jumped all on my hood and i need to replace it. the tail light on the right side has a hole in it and in the front driver side on the plastic part of the bumper there is a hole. other then that the clear coat is starting to come off at some spots and it looks like the trimming around the t-tops and back hatch is starting to rust. also in the future im planing on trying to do some upgrades with the engine ( i really want a new one) the exhaust system, and i have a 700R4 transmission sitting in my garage waiting to get put in. if anyone can help me with some ideas or web sites or even if you have parts please send me a PM or just reply. i also have pictures of the car at the bottom plus more on my profile. thanks.

modern day muscle can help ya with the parts like the bumper piece you are searching for and the weather stripping.

as for the paint, if its the orig paint then its due time for it to go south and start peeling. by now unless the car has been totally garage kept all third gens are ready for paint.

Welcome aboard and if you want to find the correct parts for your car you need to look for parts for a base model or Formula . From the pictures it looks as if you have a base Firebird . Check the 5th digit in the vin for a S or W . S is for Firebird or Formula and W is for Trans am . the 8th digit should be E or F or 8 . E is 305 TBI , F is 305 TPI , and 8 is 350 TPI .

89-bird thank you for some of that info. according to what you said i have a firebird or formula with a 350 TPI

If it has a 350 TPI in it for sure then it is a Formula 350 and the bumpers and taillights are the same as a Base Firebird . The hood must have been changed from a Formula hood to a Firebird hood then cause a Fomula hood has a bulge in it and yours looks flat .

If it is a 350 then you can do alot to it like heads , cam , headers , ignition , fuel injectors , bore/stroke , and the list goes on and on .

Alot of parts from a Firebird interchange with a Camaro . It all depends on what parts and years .

seats rear hatch but mostly leaf springs. the kid I bought the car from lowered it 2" and I hate it. anything that will interchange I want to change. I have a 1991 rs and the firebird is a 1982

The seats , rear hatch , and coilsprings will change over .

the kid tried to make his own cowl indution hood and it looks terrible. thought about the ws6 hood. car has a 305 in it now but am rebuilding a 350 bored 30 over to put in it.

If you are talking about the Camaro you will need to reprogram the computer for the 350 and change the injectors to some for a 350 and if you do a search for a hood you can find alot .

All the interior panels can swap . So can the carpet and headliners if they are both either hardtop or t-top .

Jared, speed cost, how fast do ya want to go? when starting off you spend a few hundred for a few seconds and then it gets to a point where you spnd a few thousand for a few tenths.

i sugguest basic mods like headers, exhaust, knocking down the restrictions bhind the throttlebody, AFPR and such like that. those will net you some good hp.

right now like u said start with the basic mods just to get my hp up. i am going to need lots of help with coming up with the parts to get ( like where to get them from and which ones to get) since i am really new to this car thing. if you want to help which u already are and thank you feel free to send PM's when ever and that goes for anyone that wants to help. (maybe this could be one big project car but with my money and me working on it. lol)
