Name or Part Number Help

Greetings fellow Members;

I am in need of help. I am changing the door locks on my 85 Z28, only got an ignition key when I got the car as the door and hatch locks were popped out, and part of the original lock where the rod connects to the lock is rusty. They need to be replaced as they are bending too easy being 35 years old. So I need help with either the name or part number so I can get them replaced. I bought a lock set (Ignition, Door and Hatch), and it didn't have them included. Below is a picture with what I am talking about circled in red. The door locks didn't even come with the clips that lock the rods in place to the part that I am referring to. I would buy another set, but the ones that I got were $80 and I found another set that has everything I need but it's another $80. I don't want to buy the same thing twice, besides the ones that do have everything are chrome and I bought the ones that were black.

Thank you for any help that is given.

Bad Wolf

I've contacted you before in PM, but I found my Fog Light switch that I forgot that I've had for about 6 years.

Re: Name or Part Number Help

So I discovered that mine are different than some others for 85. The ones that I fist shared are what I have, and the ones below are what I've seen on other GMs, even my 90 RS had the ones pictured below. So, question is, can I user the one below instead?

GM likely went front metal retaining clips to the nylon to reduce metal on metal wear, and rattles. I'd assume it'd be easy enough to upgrade if you're changing the pawl. You would want to compare the part numbers for the pawls and the rods.

Dig around a bit and there are a few decent door rattle threads. One example - https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...p-bumpers.html

Drew, always a wealth of information. I used to know a lot about these 3rd Gen Camaros, until I started taking prescription pills to help me fall asleep. Side effects include memory loss & I wish I was joking.

Ive used the plastic clip on both the early linkage w/ the groove for the metal clip and the later type of course.Works equally well at the door latch. Also much easier to unhook them especially.I might of had the enlarge the holes slightly at the latch.
