your car would have to be sealed pretty tight with no air coming inor out and you would have to have crazy bassbeing pushed through your subs, the glass in our cars is pretty strong though, especially the hatch.

you have nothing to worry about with two 12's in the hatch and yes you do have to have the car sealed real good. i also had the 3 12 faceing the glass that was hitting it hard you could see the window flexing it was the best $20 i spent on a window.

The direction the speakers are pointed makes no difference, the only thing that matters is how much pressure is in the car and the condition of the glass. You can bump as many subs as you want pointed at your hatch but it'll never blow if you have your door open.

mythbusters made a 48 inch sub powered by a diesel engine that put out 168 decibels at 18hz and all it did was blow out the sunroof. glass did not shatter, just bent the tracks...

The pressure is going to go through the point of least resistance. My guess is the pressure will go through your seals before it breaks the glass

I've never heard of a car blowing a hatch without insane pressures... and yes, it will definitely blow through all the other holes in your car first... your seals, your t-tops, vents, undercarriage holes, etc...

you have absolutely nothing to worry about. other than horrible rattles...

is it motorized?

if so, then sometimes bad wiring can cause problems

also, if the wiring is having problems even on a non-motorized one, it can trigger the trunk-release relay...

if it's PHYSICALLY causing it to open, then you need to readjust your locking mechanism, since that's pretty damn dangerous...

That either never happened, or it was when either the crappy subs or the crappier amp literally blew up; smashing the glass.

Yeah, that's on a (I take it,) relatively-new Escalade... the seals are actually tight enough to cause damage...

on a car like ours, the air will escape in all sorts of places before damaging a window..

hell, the air will just rush out of the window seals, since we don't have an upper door frame. That's how thieves get in so easily, well, one way.

if you welded your doors shut, welded the hatch shut, and your car could retain water without leaking, then MAYBE, just maybe, you could break a window or hatch... assuming some other panel didn't blow off the car first...

Mythbusters did a whole episode on this... they made a HUGE sub powered off the car's engine and it blew the sunroof off before windows broke!

You cant in a Camaro - there are two vents right behind the rear tires under the rear bumper cover - all cars have this - cept like cars from the 40's and earlier - but these vents are what makes the the doors shut - if the car didnt have an escape for air the doors would never shut - like pluging a tire pump and trying to pump it. Plus if you look in the spare tire area - there are some many hole that you can see the ground through lol - Plus i have 2 12" Type-Rs 1400 watts 2 6" 4" 6x9 and 2 6" subs which are ran from a 300 watt amp plus two TVs, DVD, and Playstaion 2 (has nothing to do with the window breaking but i just wanted to throw that in)
no window flex or anything
