aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
was looking at some ebay aftermarket antennas for my iroc... they have shorter ones that are 14 and 8 inches.
my question is...anyone ever buy these? or use an aftermarket antenna?
do they affect the radio's ability to get a clear signal? better/worse? any info would be great!

I have an 8" Shorty from hawks and I love it. Radio reception was not changed at all. I have HD radio though but I don't think that matters.

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
why not consider putting a stock antenna under the dashpad? I've heard alot of people have done it and still get alot of reception. If I didn't have a working electric antenna, I would do that...

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
I have a module that converts my rear defrost grid to an fm antenna while still functioning as a defroster that I pulled from a 2002ish chrysler 300 from the bone yard. No lose of fm reception but I have no am reception anymore. To me it was worth it for the cleaner look up front.

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
can you really just pu the antenna under your dash and still get good reception? i have very good (surprisingly) reception, but i wanna shave off the antenna. been lookin at some magnetic ones, but this would be so much easier. kind of ghetto, but would it work?????

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
I remember in my 1978 Camaro my antenna was actually a sticker that was on the front windshield and I got AMAZING reception with it...

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
Lets take this in another direction.... Getting BETTER reception out of our cars. I don't know whether it's my stock cassette player, or the antenna... but my camaro gets **** reception where I live (A hill nestled between some mountains) But my moms new truck gets fine reception.
What can I do to fix that?

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
I prefer it to the power antenna. Since my car is black it's barely noticeable and it's less weight overall as well.

Re: aftermarket antennas... good/bad?
under the dash works good, but you need a long mast and a good ground for the ant.
mine works just as good as the stock one did
