Single Din Flip out screen DVD/Nav

Hey, I am looking for a good unit to fit my '89 Camaro Iroc-Z. I am looking for certain specific features (back-up camera, Sirius, Navigation, DVD), if it has most, I'll be more then happy!!

I've been looking at the BOSS BV9996B 7 in-dash, but the reviews are a little... how can I say this... two sided?

Can anyone recommend a good single din flip-out screen dash? Or tell me if this one will fit into my Camaro w/o any hardships with the screen opening?

I do like the double dins but I like the flip outs more. I don't mind covering my H VAC unit, doesn't bother me too much.

Thanks

Go big or go home. With these single DINs if you're gonna spend the money you may as well get a good one. If you're not looking to drop 700 bucks on a head unit Jensen is a fairly decent brand, I have a VM9115 in my car. None of these have DVD navigation but have pretty much everything else, you may be able to find a single din navi unit on fleabay.

Doing a double DIN will require a custom made radio/ac trim bezel or some type of hacking on your existing one. From what I remember when I dismantled half my car and took my AC control box out I don't really think there'd be enough room back there to jam a double DIN in anyway.

Do not buy BOSS audio products. They're cheaply made, my friend. Hope this helps.

Ok, thank you for the input

My main question is though, if I get a deck with a 7" screen, when it pops out would it hit my shift stick? It's an automatic but I feel that my center console is in the way, no? I'm just worried that I'd have to put my car into drive just to open up the screen. Am I just over worrying or would it actually slide out without any issues?

I can't attest to other types of shifters, but I still have the original T handle shifter in my car, and the screen does not hit the shifter when it pops out. You'll want to set the angle on the screen when you first set it up though as these head units are set to recline back to the farthest position on start up and it will hit the part of the dash where your rear glass defrost controls are. Set the angle on the screen and make sure your unit defaults to that position when you open it, or you'll burn the motors up in it pretty quick.

Re: Single Din Flip out screen DVD/Nav

My flip up hits the dash for a couple of seconds and goes to the pre-adjusted angle I made. It must be a cheap one. I have a Pioneer media deck with a 3" screen that I am considering as a replacement. It supports IPhone, iPod, SD card and USB with Blue tooth. There is no CD support though.
