Convertible conversion kits?
Is it possible to still source (asc?) kits to convert a hard top to a convertible?

Re: Convertible conversion kits?
I thought all the ASC cars started out as T-top cars for the stiffer body, but as my wife will tell you, I'm probably wrong.

Re: Convertible conversion kits?
Yes, I've also read all convertibles came from T-Tops.
Does anyone know what extra strengthening T-Tops actually have?
The Convertibles seem to have been produced in a very structured and consistent way, which makes me think there must have been a "kit" with standard parts and engineering drawings.
If this is so, it would mean if you were restoring a T-Top it would be possible to chop the top at the same time.

The kits must have ended up somewhere.
Anyone have any Part Number?

Re: Convertible conversion kits?
ASC "kits" for 3gen's, if there were any to be had, are now long since a thing of the past. As mentioned above, a salvage car with some decent intact parts might be your best bet to start off with. Just be prepared to spend WAY more $$$ than just buying a minty 3rd gen vert. Plus that's money you'll never get back on resale. Plus there's all your time.
However, it has been done before.
Good luck.
