getting scared.

hey guys, i got a carbed 350 modded and the rad i am useing it from a 305 lg4 i no its to small because i have a hose on the bottom in order to get it to sit in the shroud. the rad is not damaged or anything like that> what i am wondering is should i be doing this?
also when i start my car from being shut off all nite is like 30% more faster then it is after driveing it for about 30 min> should it be that big of a diffrence, or is it from the rad?
thanks

the radiator should be fine. does it heat up quickly? does it overheat? our cars are faster when first started because there is no heat in the block and running very cold.

I swapped out my 305 for a 350 and kept the stock rad. I've only had any problems on really hot days in stopped traffic. It gets hot but never overheats. No reason why you shouldn't be fine.

Have you checked the bottom hose to make sure it isn't being sucked flat by the pump when the thermostat opens? There should be a spring coil inside the hose or be a ribbed type to keep this from happening.
