either will help.
make sure you get all the oil out, and all the new oil in.
BTW. Freeze 12 is a blend, so if you ever need AC service by a shop, they wont touch you.

I never bring my car to the shop unless i HAVE too, so i don't need A/C it will never see the shops. just playing around to see if I can get it working since it is hot. Am going to try my best to get it working again so any tips are welcomed

im thinking flushing it will have to be with a vacumn? or do i put something into the system? just don't know how to flush it out?

unless your compressor has died, you dont NEED to flush it, although it is a good idea. If I were you, with a good compressor, I would change the orfice tube, rent one of those vac pumps from autozone, evac the system for as long as possible, then do a clean fill.

It's also a good idea to replace the accumulator if you're going to have the system open for an extended period of time.

I just did mine. Here is what I suggest for a DIY.

Get a New Dryer About$30. It will have the Orings you need to replace.
Next Pop the lines off of the Compressor, Replace the O rings on the back.Mine was $1.67.. Get a new orifice tube. About $2. It will be stuck in the bottom line where it goes in the Fire wall. Oil all the O rings when you install them.

While it is all apart. Get a bottle of Rubbing Alcohol and squirt in in the Evaporator(i screw a dish soap cap on the bottle) then take compressed air and blow through it. You will see lots of oil and stuff come out Do this till its clean. Do the same to the Condenser and the lines. Replace any O ring once you take it all apart.

After its all clean reassemble it all. Do the Dryer last.

Then Vacuum it down. and Leave it as long as you can My homemade pump will pull 29" I leave it for 30 min. ( to make one just take the compressor off of a old fridge, Just cut the lines and leave them 3"-4" long. Then plug it in. stick your finger over the lines. You will find one that sucks one that blows. Rig you a hose on the suction line. That simple.)

Then add oil first. Then the Freeze 12 or 134+. You will probably end up with 30 to 32oz. You want the low pressure to read 30-45psi at 1,000 RPM.

Don't worry about water in the system. The vacuum should boil it out. The alcohol will evap at room temp and it also drys water, so under a Vacuum it should be dry quick.

Don't get a variable orifice tube. Hear they don't work well. I hear the best to use is a ford Blue. Never tried it though.

BTW evryeone has told me freeze 12 is just plain old propane. Had people tell me they been using propane for years.

you might also look at replacing the condensor. this has been the cause of at least 3 failures(failures=leaks) on 3 of my fbodies.

i guess it depends on the shop. there are 2 shops here that use Freeze 12 on request.

Is this the pressure that the compressor clutch should engage or disengage? Or is that the range when the A/C compressor is cycling? My compressor engages at 40psi and disengages at about 20psi.

45 Psi will be your high reading on the low side.

With a full fill the gauge should read in the 35-45 range. ambient Temp will affect this. Most gauge's recommend the readings at 70*-80* I believe.

I did mine at 35Psi at the 70-80* range and it hits 45 when its 90+ outside.

I'm no expert though. Here is a good site of you have questions.

They will charge it, but they won't reclaim it. It is very hard to legally discharge a blend, and most shops won't bother.
