i found these dual fans on a '92 trans-am thats being parted out it has the connections on it but how would i run those dual fans in place of my single fan setup help

The preferred method is to study the wiring diagrams for the Z/28 / IROC-Z dual fan factory wiring circuit, and incorporate that into your car's harness. That way (if you're running a stock ECM) their function will be automatic. The other options are to purchase a fan controller and wire them to be controlled by it, or wire them directly to switches and run them manually. Fan wiring is actually pretty simple, so don't get overwhelmed if you aren't very familiar with electrical stuff. If you can read a wiring diagram (Haynes diagrams are pretty easy to read), use a multimeter and take a low volts DC and ohm readings, then you'll do ok.

if your car came with a single fan then the ecm does not have provisions to run the fans. it is turned on by the temperature sender for the fans. you could add a relay or two and have them come on with the same temperature switch though. i put duel fans on my rs ( 4th gen fans) and i used a flexalite controller to control them.

I put 4th gen fans. and just tapped into the wiring for the single fan. with another connector and I am running good for years!

I would agree, you can run them together off the single fan setup.
Or the easiest would probably be to just get an aftermarket contorller.
Or use the stock setup for one fan, and run the second off a second temp with an aftermarket controller.

i was looking at wiring diagrams at school for my '86 t/a and the dual fans from the '92 t/a and it is possible to splice the duals in place of my single fan and replace the in-line fuse but some class mate asked me a very good question what is the benefit of running to small fans instead of the single large one i never really saw it like that beacuse both the fans are stock for both cars

The two small fans actually move more CFM than the single fan, and cover more square inches of the radiator. As for wiring, you can replace the single fan with the duals and have the ECM still control them, it just wouldn't have staged control (both would operate at the same time). Just make sure to run each thru a separate relay and fuse, with separate 12V feeds on at least 12 gauge wire each to supply adequate current without fear of overtaxing a circuit.

precisely the dual fans cover more of the radiator so you get more airflow and better cooling

Old post, but did you have to put a bigger fuese in or use different relays? Just curious because I"d like to do this over the summer since my single fan doesn't cool enough with the AC on.

I assume you're wiring two fans up as if they were one fan? In that case, I'm not sure if you *need* another relay, but when I put my fans in that way, I put both fans on seperate relays just in case. It wasn't too expensive, not really much extra work, and it's worked fine so far. *shrug*

h hey..do you know..the exact place where the temperature sender..sensor..(right) its located in a 91 pontiac transam..my fans not working so good.. you have some pictures..of this..

When I installed my dual fans I duplicated the factory single fan setup by getting a factory style relay connector from tpiparts.net. Then I bought a factory style relay, tapped off the trigger wire that goes to the original relay, and copied the wiring for the new relay connecor like the original. I mounted the new relay basically in front of the old relay.
