Does LT1 require new radiator?

i have a 85 z28 305 TPI and i was wondering if an LT1 swap requires a different radiator than the stock TPI radiator.

No, you don't NEED it... But if it were me I'd rather have it. Besides the ac condenser and fans go with it.

Re: Does LT1 require new radiator?

I need to buy a new radiator now because mine went out need to get the 305 running again. However if I buy a new one now I rather get a nice aluminum one but want to be able to use it when I do about engine swap in the future. Any ideas of what the best thing to do is

Re: Does LT1 require new radiator?

No, does not require new radiator. Others have used the stock thirdgen radiator in LT1 swaps and its just a matter of finding out which top and lower hoses to use. Most like the LT1 radiator setup because of how nice and inexpensive the dual fan setup is vs the thirdgen dual fan setup.

Re: Does LT1 require new radiator?

I run LT1 fans on my 3rd gen radiator. I am fighting an issue with it getting hot at low speeds, but most time it stays around 170.

Re: Does LT1 require new radiator?

In my Lt1 swap i use 3gen radiator and it works fine! No heat problems in any speed. (my car have dual fans standard)
I use Corvette c4 94 lower hose, and Camaro 94 upper hose.
Sorry for my mix with Swedish/English
