How Cold is your r12 retrofit to 134a?
Lets just keep it R12-R134... i know theres better refrigerants but GMAB....
Did a Evac and recharge few days ago... My systems as im sure all of ours holds 2.2lbs r12... and 134a doesnt take that much. so i guessed at 2lbs. I had while it was roughly 90*f... +/-3*
Min-62*F Steady in traffic, Max High
Min-50*F On Max High going down the interstate 2hrs steady 70-80mph
Accumulator temp was at 47*
Then Today, i Replaced the orifice tube to the Famous Ford Blue..
Same Temperature outside... on my way home tonite....
50-53* in traffic Max High
42-44* 20 minutes of mixed highway/city Driving.
Accumulator temp was at 37*f
8* may not be a huge difference....... But Im from Maine, Moved to NC a year ago. and i'll take the colder 8 Deg. It was def. worth it for me......
Is there any other smarter to use orifice tubes being used in our Thirdgen's??

The deal with R134 is that it moves at a higher pressure so go offset that, I always suggest at some point swapping to a higher output electric fan to pull more heat out of the condensor-that faster the Freon moves through the system, the less time there is for heat dissipation.

Or just switch to R-152a aka Diflorethane aka Air Duster. I have it in my 2012 Titan and it gets down to 37°F on the highway and runs 50 psi less head pressure than 134. My 97 Express has Duracool which is a propane based blend. It blows ice cubes as well and also runs much lower head pressures..

8° is a huge difference! The blue orifice tube definitely looks to be worth the $5 cost.
