CAR DOESN"T STALL WITH EST CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED
Hi, My 1988 Trans Am 350 TPI, idles and runs fine with the EST wire disconnected. Set timing to 6* with EST disconnected. When the wire is connected, the car idles rough and stalls when put in reverse or drive. I've tried 2 different distributors (rebuilt OEM and MSD) and I still have the same problem.

I wonder if that is the same problem I a having, whenever I rev it up it shuts down, I can start it up and it idles fines (fine as it ever has anyways..always been rough) but as soon as I throttle up. it gets real jerky then shuts down. I'm running all OEM on my 1991 GTA 350 TPI.

Do you have Megasquirt in your car? I'm seriously thinking about doing a Megasquirt stand alone. Sick and tired of all the problems this car is giving me. When I fix something, it runs good for a while, then some other issue. I'm thinking it's the ECM or prom.

its in the car now... i think you might want to wait just a bit longer. i'm the test monkey for the guy who designed the tpi-megasquirt adapter board. plug and play man.. plug ms2 into adapter board, plug factory tpi harness into it. just got it hooked up sunday, inputs and outputs tested, just need to get the timing synched and get my maps setup. from what i can tell its going to be very cool.

How does the car run now? Did you change your O2 sensor? Is there any issues with the stall converter lock up? I guess the mass air is gone and the cold start injector is not in use.

Re: CAR DOESN"T STALL WITH EST CONNECTOR DISCONNECTED
i don't have the ms configured yet... just tested inputs and outputs and all that on sunday. i work 10 to 12 hours a day, so time isn't on my side. the wideband is going in this weekend. hopefully will have it running this saturday... once we figure out the correct config i will forward it on so you guys can get your cars running right.
as far as the 9th injector goes, i had already started burning chips before i decided to go with the megasquirt so I already changed to the 89 bin and modified the startup enrichment tables to get rid of the 9th injector (it wasn't working that well to begin with). in regards to tc lockup, i guess there is a way to control it using the megasquirt but due to it not using the vss it uses things like rpm and throttle position to figure out when to kick it on. i'm just going to make mine manual with a switch on my console, but it is possible to run from the ms.

and on a side note, i figured out where i messed up. did you both set your req_fuel field? the stock setting is for 30lb injectors, which will have a much smaller value than we should have with 22lb injectors. that would make it run lean as hell (i must have forgotten to hit burn the first time... duhhh)
