The Cruise Control Will Function With Motor Swap and Deleted Computer

Recently, after much searching on TGO, I concluded that there was no definitive answer to whether the cruise control would function or not if the computer were jerked in a swap. Long story short, at least on my 85 Camaro--and probably all thirdgens with the VSS buffer box on the rear of the cluster--the cruise will work. Quite simply, when the computer is removed, the ground that the computer provided for the VSS is lost. Reground the VSS and the cruise will function as designed. Note the pic: The black/white wire issues from the IP harness under the pass side (my plug won't look like yours as many of the wires were eliminated--just locate the black/white wire).

This plug and its black wire go to the cruise control module, again under the pass side. Join the black/white wire from the IP harness to the black wire from the cruise control module with a length of wire and enjoy. I used a couple feet of 14 gauge, stripped, soldered, and taped. By the way, I chose this method for what I saw as convenience, but the black/white wire could be tied into and grounded elsewhere.
