Solid motor mount problem

Hey guys, maybe someone can help me out here. I ordered solid motor mounts for the 86 I'm putting together for my son. Ordered both block and frame mounts from Jegs. However when I swing the engine and trans in for mockup, they are no where near close. I measure 16 1/2 from center to center on frame hole, but 17 1/4 from center to center on the block side. Has anyone else ran into this problem, is there something I'm missing. I called Jegs and they never heard of this. I have a parts car and tried to mounting them in that car to see if I had a problem with the K member. The same problem with that car. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

About 10 years ago I ordered Moroso solid motor mounts and frame mounts for a V6 to V8 swap. Things lined up nicely but there are two frame mount locations on the K-member. One is for the V6 and the other is for the V8. You have to make sure you mount the frame mounts in the right location.

The Moroso's part numbers are 62510 (motor) and 62610 (frame).

Also make sure you got shipped the right parts. I have had the wrong part, not the one I ordered, shipped to me once. Mistakes happen.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

I had the same ones that bestracing is talking about. I ordered them for my '85 T/A when I was swapping in a 350, and reused them on my '91 RS. Great mounts, just don't torque them down all the way until you have the engine and trans in.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

Thanks guys. The mounts are in the correct location. After looking further into the part numbers of the mounts we have,I now see that they sent my son the Jegs version of the Moroso mounts. I thought we were getting the Moroso mount part # you have listed above. I talked to Moroso this morning and they say that the frame pads look the same, but one side should be taller then the other. The ones I have here from Jegs are the same height. Have you guys seen them this way. Just would like to be sure before i go and order another set of mounts and they are the same I have.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

My Moroso mounts came labeled driver side and passenger side, even so they were a PITA to get in the car

Re: Solid motor mount problem

So I talked to Moroso today and they gave me the measurements for the mounts and the are different left and right. The mounts that Jegs sold me are either packaged wrong or plain just don't work. Correct Moroso mounts are on their way. Hopefully we'll be back on track the beginning of the week.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

Had same problem just bought the Jegs motor mounts, tried to install them and they didn't fit.. Problem is with the pad to frame mount. Pad on drivers side should be shorter than passenger side. Confirmed this cause I was lucky enough to buy the Moroso ones locally.
The driver and passenger frame pads are different in height. The mount to block are the same.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

Well finally got it all worked out. Ended up picking up Moroso block mounts locally and using the Moroso lower mounts I got from Jegs. The Jegs lower mounts that they sold me will not work, they are the same mount left & right. Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Solid motor mount problem

Hate to bump this but I just tried to install my jegs motor mounts and ran into the same problem.
Just ordered the moroso mounts and sent jegs an email to get 82-92 camaro/firebird removed from the compatibility list since they clearly don't fit anyones car.

So just to cliffnote.

Jegs motor mounts don't fit
Buy moroso mounts
Try not to be angry

Bumped for a good reason since you verified others results but not good for the fact that you had to deal with the frustration of it all.
