I'm officialy an idiot (or how i cured my vibration)
Remember my irritating vibe at about 70 mph, the one i was sure wasn't out of balance wheels, because there was no steering wheel shimmy?
i took the front wheels off at work today, *just to see* sure enough, they weren't buckled, but both had slight inballance, 25g one side 15g the other. ok, i thought, i'll balance them to 00g just to make sure.
on the drive home, at 75mph down the Bedford bypass (where i'd always notice it worst) the car was smooooooooooooth as anything!
lesson 1, when tracing a fault, never assume anything, always check it, ESPECIALY the simplest things.
I had been driving around with out of ballance wheels for about 8 months.

Same problem here. But I need to polish my other two rims before I get them balanced.
/edit: Actually, I'll go out now and take one wheel to the basement.

Yeah I have had vibration caused by imbalanced wheels and the steering wheel was steady as a rock. Maybe its more noticeable with a tighter rack and pinion steering setup which we dont have
