Need opinions on dual exhaust

Ok after extensive research on robbie's ungodly long trues vs big single etc etc post I'm still undecided. Should I go with 1 5/8 LT 2 1/2" dual, 1 3/4 shortie 2 1/2" dual, or 1 3/4 shorties and 3" single? I'm trying to optimize clearance, price, and horsepower at the same time. I want my cake and eat it too Damnit!

I would go 13/4 shorty to 2.5 dual for best power and ground clearance. With the shorty header you wouldn't have to worry about sacrificeing ground clearance to get underneath the crossmember, and with the dual 2.5 you would have to worry about a restrictive y pipe that would go with the single 3.

Which routing is the best? Should I go around the tranny and straight out the back or do like Willie and follow the stock locations? Any suggestions?

Following the stock routing would give the best ground clearance. But unless you are well over 400hp, then whats the point? Duals routed properly will cost quite a bit more to have made, and will be much more complicated than a good 3" single exhaust. The 3" will support just as much power as a dual setup up to about 400 or 450hp, and it will be alot easier to have made and to live with, because the ground clearance will be better. You also only have to buy half as many parts (ie. mufflers) to make it too

As much as I like ******* setup, it would cost a fortune to have something like that fabbed up at your typical exhaust shop.
