Reports are consistent that the 2055's have the superior y-pipe.

Im looking for headers, I almost bought some used edelbrocks that was ceramic coated. They sold for 120 without the y pipe.I was out bidded by a dollar. I was bumbed out, but after looking at the replys on headers Im glad I lost. So the 2055 are good headers? They have a good y pipe? How are they compared to the SLP headers? are SLP the only 1 3/4 headers that are a direct fit? are the 2055 a direct fit? Sorry this is so long I just want to get all the info I can cause The SLP 1 3/4 inch headers I want are so expensive, and I thought the edelbrocks where good
Thanks Randy

well first off ANY header is better than stock manifolds. from what i have searched 2055 has superior y pipe and yes 2055 have AIR with o2 bung. but do u have 1 or 2 cats other wise they r a direct fit. with slp and 2055's there both about the best u can buy. i would recomend ceramic coated, i went with the 2055

Edelbrock has a good catback but from what I hear their headers aren't great (but better than stock manifolds for sure), so no loss losing out on the bid

Yes.
are the 2055 a direct fit?
Not on an '83 or '86. But, you can get all the rest of the exhaust from cat on back that will be a direct fit to the headers, and it all will "fit" the chassis (a hanger mod, like the cat hanger on the tranny tailshaft, is one thing keeping it from being "direct").

The A.I.R. fitting on the driver's side header points to the rear of the engine, where carb'd motors both point to the front.

They are a direct fit as in they will bolt to the motor and clear everything. They may not however fit right up to your accessory brackets and or AIR fittings. Some fab work may be required to address those two issues.

OK, I havent looked at the engine bay of my car for too long a time but, I'm considering the Hooker 2055's, and my car is an '84...I thought the AIR fittings were the individual tubes that went to the exh manifold at each cylinder and made the spark plugs a b**** to change.......but if its a single fitting, is there tubing that needs to be changed or is it wiring?
