Hedman Headers and Y pipe
Guys, got the hedman shorty headers installed and just loosely bolted up the y-pipe to find out the y-pipe is contacting the frame. Has anyone seen this and/or have any recommendations on have to fix it ? These are brand new headers and y-pipe, also installed new motor mounts.

Re: Hedman Headers and Y pipe
I've had the same set up for eight years, I ended up spacing the headman headers to the y pipe with @ 1/2 to 1' worth of summit 3' flange gaskets stacked together with the dead soft aluminum @ 1/8" thick flanges to make the necessary spacing to obtain the clearance you are looking for.The pax and drivers side require different thickness. This has worked fine w/o leaking. put a mildly built 350 in last fall @ 400 hp/tq and now do not have enough exhaust flow so I am installing a Dynomax 89009 true dual exhaust system. Good luck hope this helps

Re: Hedman Headers and Y pipe
I'm currently having the same problem with my headman shorties and Y pipe. I'm not very satisfied with their kit, sadly that's all the budget had room for. Their ball socket flanges are crap. A couple header bolts wouldn't go in without slightly dimpling the primary near the flange. Wish I had money for Don's headers
