Intermediate pipe for dual cat cars
Does anyone have a part number for the intermediate pipe I’d need for my dual cat car?

89-91.5 and 91.5-92 are different so it depends on which year N10 you have.

what do you mean by “rig” is the pipe able to be slid into or overtop where it connects to y pipe is the 4th gen pipe the proper length?

That depends... If you have the 89-91.5 dual cat Y-pipe, it terminates in a sorta ancient V-band type of clamp, and the intermediate pipe is flared to match, the clamp wraps around and holds it all together. The 91.5-92 dual cat Y-pipe terminates in about the same place, but with a slip joint and a typical band clamp. The fourth gen intermediate pipe (thinking it's a 98-02 part) comes forward and stops just behind where the cats would be.
So the 4th gen pipe would almost mate up with the late dual cat Y-pipe. It might be a bit short or long, but it'll be close. If you have the early dual cat Y-pipe, you'll either need to do away with the flange for the oldschool V-band, and come up with a way to mate the 4th gen pipe to the Y-pipe, or you'll have to figure out how to adapt the slip joint so it'll mate with the V-band.
Hope that's not too confusing. It's not really a big deal to make the 4th gen exhaust work, it's just not an exact bolt up to the existing flanges. If you can cut pipe, have welder, no problem, Bob.

I should also probably mention, the Walker replacement pipe, was basically the 46669 intermediate pipe, but shorter, with the flange to mate with the early dual cat Y-pipe V-band. They discontinued that pipe in the past few years, most likely because people weren't buying them.
Flowmaster's solution was to replace the Y behind the cats, with their own Y, then their multi-piece intermediate pipe had a couple slip joints eventually mating up with the muffler. Pretty sure Flowmaster dumped all their dual cat options about the same time the Walker/Dynomax dual cat setup went away.
When you really break it down, the way it all works out is that most people don't run the dual cats. Most people on here over the last couple decades have shared the opinion that a single 3" or more recently full dual exhaust was a better solution. As a result, dual cat setups didn't sell well, and now you can't find anyone that still makes a system for dual cat cars. If all else fails, convert to a single cat or dual exhaust like everyone else. That's what most people would do.

So either way better off getting a fourth gen pipe instead of trying to hack up a third gen intermediate pipe?

I think the bottom line is that no one is making a direct fit part. If you're going to be doing some fabrication anyway, you might as well use the 4th gen pipe, since it's available as a full 3". Or pick a cat-back you like for a single cat car, and make it work.
