Is it a dumb idea to replace my N10 exhaust muffler/tips?

My 89 Formula came with the N10 exhaust dual cat, and I am looking to replace the muffler since it has a small exhaust leak. I also want to replace the tips with new shiny Dynomax 43243 Exhaust Intermediate Pipe. I'm thinking of going with the Flowmaster 842583 80 Series stainless muffler for the sound, or should I get the muffler fixed since it is a small hole.

Is this a stupid idea ruining an original N10 exhaust, or does the muffler/tips not really matter just the dual cats? Opinions?

Get a muffler and tips. They all have to be replaced eventually. It will look and sound better no harm there.

Since that's not the original exhaust, doesn't too much matter. The muffler has already been replaced at least once. Now it's all beat to hell and rusted and whatnot; no sense in trying to "fix" something like that.

I'd recommend NOT the Blowmonster. The Walker/Dynomax (both are the same product, just different brand names) is a better piece altogether.

The tailpipes are original. Looks like the I-pipe is too. It's kinda hard to find tips that tuck up in there like they're supposed to and don't look stupid and hit curbs when you back into parking places.

Not sure much of it is original but if you want to keep it "just incase" take it apart without hacking it all apart and save it.
Not a huge fan of flowmaster. Much better choices.

As has been mentioned, the muffler has already been replaced. The big gun on the N10 is the Y pipe and dual cats. I'm not a fan of the Flowmaster. Sounds good on the outside, but will make you want to blow your brains out on the inside, after 20 minutes of droning.

Thanks guys didn't know the muffler was replaced. I took it off and it was a hack job I guess they got the wrong inlet size and cut it to pieces to make it fit. Bunch of holes in the inlet leaking. The muffler had rust falling out from the inside. They replaced 1 of the exhaust intermediate pipe tips but left the other factory rusted. They are different sizes too.

I'll look into other mufflers after reading about the drone and bad flow of the blowmaster. Car sounds awesome without a muffler.

I ordered a magnaflow 12265 muffler seems like the best bet for a nice stainless. Not many options in my area. Hope it sounds nice

Not certain on this, but those exhaust tips look the same as a single exhaust car. not sure if they would be considered N10.

I would make all my intermediate pipe 3 in and the muffler a 3in inlet as well.
