F41 RPO code question

F41 RPO code question
I was just wondering what exactly the F41 package includes.. I ran the codes today on the decoder and it showed up as a special order car also.. another thing I thought was weird is that there were four codes for the springs.. one was for front passenger side.. one was for front drivers side and so on.. I was wondering if that is normal on the RPO codes or not.. If i remember correctly it say (computer selected) or something.. anyway.. any help would be appreciated.. thanks

From reading the RPO code book I have, RPO Code F41= Suspension System, FRT, RR, Firm Ride Handling. The book does not break it down any further than that.

From what I have heard, it was more of a performance suspension option. I think most newer camaros after that automatically got it..

What F41 means depends on what year third gen we are talking about.
From 82-85 it was suspension upgrade for the sport coupe. After that it's meaning changed and it had something to do with the Z28's and RS's as far as upgrading those suspensions. For example I have seen 87 Z28's that have F41 listed, but I am not sure what it means.
I had an 85 Z28 and it didn't list anything in the RPO code for suspension no F41 and no FE2, so where the suspension for that car fell in between a sport coupe and an Iroc-z is anyone's guess.

I am told that my '91 RS has the F41 option, which was only available if the car had a V8. Mine got the 16" Z28 wheels and larger sway bars. It may have gotten more performance suspension stuff, but those are the only pieces I know for sure.

As far as the "computer selected" term goes, once a car work order was placed at the factory a computer program would calculate the correct springs to use by loading them with the weight of the model plus the options selected. The program knew the weights of each option added/subtracted them and selected the springs accordingly.
Not all springs are listed in the decoder however and I imagine the variations of spring rates are rather large.

they obviously didnt do that to the 4thgens.....
i have a friend with a "lightweight" 99 camaro... manual everything, deletes, ect.... with everything as it came from the factory, it was a 4x4.... about a inch taller then a regular 99.
