Re: 85 Camaro Iroc- Z Drive Aid Signature Car
That link really needs a connection speed warning... ie if you don't have a dedicated high speed line, get ready to be locked up for 5 minutes while 20 high res pics of has been entertainers and their signatures load.
It's refreshing to see a hyped ebay ad that doesn't hype a bunch of 2nd hand gossip rarity. There's nothing about how this Iroc had a special engine or option packages. About the only ranting and raving is about how historically significant all the signatures are. I can't imagine who thought up using such funky color markers for the signatures. Even some of the ones that are in black look like they were signed with the marker that'd been sitting uncapped all day. When the signature doesn't show up clearly, no sweat, just make the signature again right over the old one in a different color. I guess the thought never occured to clean the old signature off before applying another?
The entire concept doesn't really come off. It's about as annoying as those Sally Struthers commercials with the starving kids. Wish that guy luck, it's a unique car with some history, but it'd probably be worth more if there was some coherant structure behind the autographs, and if they were all in crisp clear black ink. As it is, it'd look better without the signatures.

I'm thinking of offering a bid of about $2000. That should leave me enough $$$ to give it a decent paint job.

Some idiot bought the car from the Barrett-Jackson West Palm Beach 2004 auction for a whopping $22,000 and now they want $275k? I almost hate people like that!! GM needed to reduce it's inventory, sold the car for a fair amount and now they are stealing from the public.

Someone is TRYING to rip someone off, but lets be realistic... No one in their right mind would pay that for this thing.
Maybe the signatures could be Mr Clean Magic Erasered off? LOL
Did anyone notice the signatures in the BJ photos don't match the ones in the Ebay photos? Also the ebay car has body side moldings... The dates of the concerts are both the same, but the BJ pic shows it's a "Farm Aid" Camaro? Gotta love how it's sitting in snow too.

Re: 85 Camaro Iroc- Z Drive Aid Signature Car
Live Aid and Farm Aid were two different concerts held two months apart. I think the B-J listing either has the wrong picture or the wrong description. The B-J picture is not the same car as described in the text and now for sale in the Ebay ad -- as pointed out, the signatures are different, not to mention the body side moldings.
If you look at the vintage press release pics contained in the Ebay ad, the car clearly has always had body side moldings and the signatures seem to match up.
Maybe Chevrolet sponsored both events and sent a different white IROC to each?

Here's the only pic I took back in '01 in the Corvette Museum. Should have gotten more since there was nobody in there when we set up the cars for display. My TTA was in the Pontiac section.

Hey Guys,
No offense to all the comments about the 1985 Camaro Iroc Z Signature Car but the seller is correct about his car! There were two white Camaros brought to Live Aid in 1985. The one advertised is the car that was brought on the four car international car show schedule and eventually was won at Drive Aid held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. It's also the one pictured in all the documentation from GM. It's the more desirable of the two. The car sold at Barrett Jackson was the car that GM had kept in there collection. Although it sold for $22,000, keep in mind that was six years ago. The classic car market has changed ALOT in six years. I think it's worth more then people might expect. Could you imgine a 1969 Camaro ( thats only 14 years older ) with signatures from everyone who played at Woodstock would be worth.

Good eyes! Your right. However, as I mentioned below there were two Live Aid Signature Cars and this one is the more desirable of the two. Look at what I wrote.

Thats horrible what happened to that iroc. I do suppose the Mr.Clean magic eraser would work though haha. Or just buff the signatures off... either way 275K could buy you a original 69 COPO camaro, the seller is obviously huffing the markers used to sign that car.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Most-...item3a575e5796 Car is now in Mentor, Ohio at the Museum of Speed/Best of Show Automotive. Price drop to $199, 900. At least I think its the same car. A little different ad description, but same mileage, etc.

I wonder why the guy just doesn't have B-J auction it for him? If it's so valuable, B-J would love to get a cut of that moola.

Local news station out of Cleveland did a story this past Sat on the museum-they showed the car several times. One of the curators talked about it. Might take a ride up there soon to check it out. Not in the market to purchase THAT particular car, but would be cool to see it in the flesh.

Pretty neat car! I think I will take the 85 IROC we have with only 5 miles on it, and get some stars to sign it. Then Im going to start the bids on ebay at a cool half a million. LOL!!

Now if by stars we mean celebs from the adult movie industry . . . and instead of signatures there was airbrushed pics of their favourite scenes . . . I might put in a bid.

Re: 85 Camaro Iroc- Z Drive Aid Signature Car
wow...no offense guys but I think erasing the signatures is a little extreme...
This car has signatures of alot of famous people that should be at least preserved. Carlos Santana and Led zeppelin guys!
