Gauge Problems!!!!PLease help

Engine: 305
Transmission: 700R4
Gauge Problems!!!!PLease help
Well i am 16 get my license in 17 days!!! lol.... But me n my dad took my car out just got a new jasper 305 w/ holley carb...i have the old 85 mph gauges in about 10 sec. i was goin 85 then the speedo quit working my dad said i prolyy got it up to about 120 or so...but since that speedo hasnt worked... dad is friends with a mechanic and he said i would have to put in a new trans....sounds to extreme pls comment!!!!!!!!!!!!

its possible you broke, or jammed the speedo. is the needle stuck at 85 or is it sitting at zero? is it a electric speedo or a mechanical one, check the sending unit on the tailhousing of the trans. it may have come off or is loose. if the sending unit is wasted its not very expensive, i see no reason why the trans needs to be replaced, unless the speedo is not moving because you blew the trans and in that case the car would not move either

well it is sitting t zero but i dont know about the elec. or mechanical ill have to check...but my dad said his friend just didnt want to mess with it lol...thanx though...i figure it is prolly the sending unit...thanks alot though
