Note as for the wiring Im swaping my 305 for an ls3 with a 4l80-e trani so i dont think im going to have much isues if i swap most of my wiring.

Do a search around the boards. There have been quite a few guys on here do the swap and they all posted pics up somewhere. Just do a search and you should find what you need.

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

Wouldn't it be easier to just sell your 3rd gen and buy a 4th gen? I'm not trying to be smart here, but I just don't see the reason for all of this swapping.

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

I may be able to awer that, 80schild... I like the style of the thirdgen more than I like the style of the fourthgen. I'm not too crazy about the dash and center console, though. Besides, there is a certain "coolness" to being different. (And I for one, want a cupholder!!!) I put an LS1 into mu 90 rs because I wanted easy horsepower, now I have it. LOL Some people like the thirdgen dash. I have three of them. I want each to be different in its own way. I would like to know where I can find info on the dash/center console swap, as I see everyone talking about it, but never see pics or diagrams of it.

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

Why don't you just put a 2007 Corvette dash in it? or is it because it may break in half and fall in your lap? LMAO sorry, i couldnt help it. i've thought long and hard about the 4th gen swap, but i think i've ended up liking my third gen setup. besides, the car has sentimental value to me so i don't think i could change it.

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

Well, livewire, I would put the 2007 dash in, but I already have a dash from a stealth bomber in there!!! I would show you pics of it but it's classified and my camera is broken!!! LOL. My 86 Iroc will probably have the stock dash in it, by the time I'm done, but I am really thinking of doing a 4thgen dash/door panels/seats in my 85 trans-am... not too sure yet, just kinda kicking the Idea around.

There's a tech article on the first page on how to put a cup holder in a 3rd gen...providing you don't smoke.

To make a 4th gen fit perfectly requires A LOT of work and modifying. You can get it to fit 85% percent, no problem. BUT, the other 15% takes time and patience.

Even if you do smoke, you should never use the in car ash trays. lol. So in my case, even with all my friends being smokers, I'd be set because NO ONE uses the in car ash trays without getting their *** whooped lol

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

See to be honset I like orignal but I have seen some pics of the cross over and it does look nice, Beside hey it be kool for some to look into my car and be like what the....... well you know. I hate the 4th gen body style to me its a girly car the muscle like on mustangs is gone. The 4th gens went from being truely a aswome car to just a plain old sports car that is ugly..really ugly. That is why I am swaping the engine becasue of gas milage and power as for the interior im still not decided Im trying to see some finished pictures to make my final choice

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

It's funny, because I was going to do that swap but then two weeks ago I said screw it 'cause I couldn't find one, and then I spent a bunch of money on new gauges and a panel for them. Now there's a 1995 TA sitting out in my local junkyard.
I got myself a really good tranny though...

I have done alot of the swaps, LT1 (383), T56, dash/ center consel, rear. I love the uniqueness of the swaps.

Re: 3rd gen 4th gen interior

My point exactly, ssean92!! I have three of these cars and want each to look totally different!! Plus, I can get a dash with everything I need for the swap for less than the cost of a new dashpad!!! LOL
