Fixing an LS6 intake. Help/thoughts/ideas please!

So after being the cheap *** I am, I finally found an LS6 intake for less than $400. I picked this guy up locally for $250, but it needs a little attention.

It's part #12573572 and originally came off of a Z06 vette. However it was put on an LS1 block with the steam tube so the previous owner has already clearanced the bottom of the intake. Sweet 1 less thing for me to do.

What I need some help with is fixing the home-brewed EGR port that was cut into the intake. It looks like it worked really well, but it's just something I need to fix. Here's what it looks like:

Size: 193.4 KB

Size: 142.8 KB

Question is how do I fill the hole after I removed the EGR input??!!

My thoughts so far would be to use some tape on one side of the hole then fill the other side with black epoxy.......any better ideas?!?!

So the intake is made of Polyamide 6-6. Any idea where I could find something that's also made of that stuff so I could maybe cut out a patch?

first you need to stop playing with that because its a slp intake and are worth big bucks because they are rare and second they are not off a zo6 its off a 2001 camaro ls6... 3rd that egr fitting is stock.

but to answer your question you can get some aircraft grade epoxy and replace it fairly easy.

Re: Fixing an LS6 intake. Help/thoughts/ideas please!

Epoxy it.Scuff the area with sand paper first and clean it well.Put tape on the inside and put a first thin layer and let it set so you know you have a solid base. Then add more to fill and seal the hole.Once its cured you might want to smooth the inside just for the air flow but not a big deal.Ive seen guys plastic weld ls6 intakes but its not easy to do right i hear.

Re: Fixing an LS6 intake. Help/thoughts/ideas please!

The only reason I didn't think it was an SLP intake is because I'd never seen a picture of one before. I need to be sure that someone didn't modify this on their own first........

I'd much rather have a stock intake than have to fix anything.

12573572 is not an SLP part number.

Re: Fixing an LS6 intake. Help/thoughts/ideas please!

Of course it isn't because SLP only modded stock intakes. I've been emailing with SLP tech all day and they've confirmed that it's an SLP modded intake.

I've also found where to get the nut and ferrules to complete the intake so it'll be for sale ASAP since I've no need for an EGR provision, and I'd like to see someone get it that actually needs it.
