100 Mile run up the coast

These are pictures of my last run of the year up the coast. My car was down from May to August so I thought I'd carve some corners and get it out of my system. You can't make any mistakes on Hwy 1, it's all cliff and about 500' to the water.

Re: 100 Mile run up the coast

Thanks for the compliment. Hwy 1 is an awsome drive. Head out Hwy 116 to Hwy 1. Then you can go either north or south, the only thing that matters is how much time you have. I don't take the wife anymore. She justs sits there with her little fists all balled up and her eyes closed, makes me nervous.

Yeah, thats long and you hit too many towns inland like Salinas etc...until you get to Central Calif. Make it a two or three day'er...Go to Hearst Castel.

I'm glad I don't work on this car here, cause I know what I'd have done with it by now.

Re: 100 Mile run up the coast

I go back and fourth on changing out the rims, Almost bought some 17" chrome Iroc rims, but then my daughter begged for new rims and tires on her Pontiac sunfire so there went the money. But I think rims will be next. I just don't know if I want to go chrome, brushed aluminum or painted.

Re: 100 Mile run up the coast

Yeah, there`s always something that slows down progress on my car and its usually something else I love, like the wife and kid.If you asked my wife she`d tell you all I care about is the car.I told her once if that was true shed be living in an apartment and my car would have a nice paint job. That shut her up.....for a second or two.My son has 3 years to get his license so dont remind me what I have to come.Somewhere he got the crazy Idea I`m gonna turn him loose in the Iroc.

Re: 100 Mile run up the coast

Yeah, all three of my kids all got their driver's license at about the same time. I was driving a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396/325 H.P. but with alot of add ons to the engine. I LOVED that car. In 1977 I bought one when I was a Junior in High School so I always wanted another. Then the sqabbling started about who and when they were go to drive it. I'd come home, the car would be gone cause the wife let one of them take it somewhere to run a errand. So screw it...sold it for $18,500 to the first person that saw it. I took approximately 65 phone calls in two days from the ad. One guy offered me an extra $2000 if I walked from the first seller. Half of the people wanted to know if I was taking a list in case the deal fell threw. Talks about sellers remorse. But I was certain one of my kids would hurt themselves in it. Later I bought the 84 Z28 as a safe project for me and my boy but he never caught the car bug so I kept it. My suggestion, if they don't put any blood, sweat and tears into ...no drive. Oh, and by the way, from what I can see your car does look pretty damn clean/mint by it's own right.

Re: 100 Mile run up the coast

Beautiful set of of pics Kevin, every last one of them! Kinda reminds me of Knight Rider and the nice areal shots shots of Kitt unning up and down the coast.

I haven't had a chance to take a nice ride in mine since I got it this summer. Tonight I'm driving it to down town Chicago for a fundraiser and hopefully I'll be able to take some nice pictures there.

I've been to California and driven that road, but in a Chrysler Sebring rental car.

Your pics really make me want to drive mine there sometime! Nice job.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm lucky to live where I do. Next I'm going to take it to Infinion Raceway and get some pictures of it on the track.

Ditto, your vehicle is pretty darn clean too. Are you going to put the red stripes back on? I think they look great.

It`s one of those cars that looks great from 10 feet or more away or in pics.It is in "good" shape but when you get up close you see the 10,000 rock pecks, scratches, peeling, parking lot dings and all you get on these cars after all these years.Last owner had a cheepo paint job put on it and did not remove and /or replace all the decals.Just kinda taped out the lower body stripes and removed the door decals without replaceing them. Thanks though.

Hey Kevin, the Z is running great. Have not had any problems with it. When I first looked at it there seemed to be a small leak coming from the trans but the dealer fixed it as part of the sale and the car runs like a dream.

I drive it pretty much every Wednesday to the local cruise night and thats about it.

It does look very clean. Isn't 85 the only year that came with white/red and silver GFX?
