83 Camaro
Hello, just thought I would introduce myself and my new to me 83 Z28. The car has a 305, 5 speed and is in need of some love but it should be a fun project. I have a new clutch kit to put in and I have put some Z06 wheels on it. I plan on getting rid of the groung efx cause I prefer the looks of the sc over the looks of the ground efx cars. I got this car because it reminds me of the 83 sc I had in high school. I will get pics. later.

Re: 83 Camaro
Here is a pic. of the car the way it looks now but it will get a new clutch kit and cleaned up when it warms up. Thanks for the welcome, I've been here for a while but now I have a project that I plan on keeping for a long time so I thought I would start a build thread. It will be slow going but I hope it turns out good.

Re: 83 Camaro
It's just blue paint. Needs to be sanded down and put in primer but it's cold and no garage to work in but may try to do it the next day or so while it's warm.

This is the best pic I have of the front right now. I think the Z28 front nose looks good with out the gfx on the rest of the car.

Re: 83 Camaro
Started working on the driverside.
That last pic is of the rust I found on the driver side behind the rear wheel. The only other rust I found is on the right front fender behind the front wheel but I will be replacing that fender anyways os it doesn't really matter.
I love the looks of the 295/35 18 rear tires on the 18X10.5 Z06 wheels

Re: 83 Camaro
Hey quick question for you. So, I see the front bumper and fender GFX are the 83 style, and the rear bumper and GFX are 91-92 style. What rocker GFX are those?..Just for my own curiosity, no other reason.

Re: 83 Camaro
I am not sure. I think that the driver side was the early style and the passenger side the later style. I still need to get a rear bumper cover for a sc.

Re: 83 Camaro
Went to pull a part today and made a good find. I got a right fender, rear sc bumper cover, a 3" cat back flowmaster exhaust, and a couple other small parts for $100.00. Just can't wait for the weather to warm up a little and to have some free time to put this stuff on the car.

Re: 83 Camaro
I got to work on my car today. Got to put the rear bumper cover on that doesn't have the GFX on it. It looks so much better but now you can see the nasty looking exhaust. I need to put the clutch in it so I can get the new exhaust put on.

Re: 83 Camaro
Well I finally got the new clutch kit in and it works great. Still need to get use to it. It's a stage 2 race kit and it is a little different than a stock replacement. Now I need to get the exhaust on and the right front fender on. I also need to redo the suspenion and get the brakes done and working like they should. For now I can drive it till the weather warms up and I can work on it more

Re: 83 Camaro
Just a shot of the driverside that I liked and wanted to share
Panted the headlight buckets and it looks a lot better. Not much else done cause the weather and work.
What do you all think about it?

I am working on a new shifter plate for the console and going to put drink holders in it in place of the ash tray. I will get pictures of it when I get it done.

Re: 83 Camaro
Looks like its coming along but the front cover with ground effects is out of place. Also be very careful with the new exhaust tips especially if there slant cut like the Flowmasters. They are very sharp and tend to be either out a little or flush with the cover. They will open up a shin/leg like a sharp knife that's one of the reasions why I cut mine back. I like the look better anyway.
