I just rebuilt the top end of my 350 for my camaro and can't get it to run i would be willing to pay up to 150 bucks if someone can come help me diagnose the problem and get the car running its a 350 bored.30 rhs pro action heads comp cams 292 magnum edelbrock performer intake and a holley 750 vacuum advance it turns over the most I can get is a backfire I've moved the distributor 50 times at least and can't get anything my next step is checking the timing chain cause I replaced it and it was my first build so I don't know. If anyone has time and might wanna make a few bucks it would b awesome to get the car running and be able to go for a cruise or two before winter thanks.... reply or pm me ad we can figure someting out

pop off the drivers valve cover, spin the motor over by hand until you see the #1 exhaust open and close, then the #1 intake valve open and close, continue turning it until the balancer mark lines up with 10 degrees before the zero reading on the timing tab. Mark your distributor where the #1 wire goes with a black sharpie on the housing below where the cap mounts. Pop the cap off, is the rotor pointing at this mark? If not turn it until it is. Pop the cap back on and try to start it, you may need to advance the distributor slightly to get it fire up before checking timing. To advance it you could turn it slightly clockwise looking from the front of the car.

I'm in st paul off larpenteur avenue... I'm pretty sure I've narrowed the problem down to a timing issue my problem is I don't have a lot of tools or know how to get everything right all I have are basic hand tools and not very many at that...

There's few from St. Paul that might stop by to help. Probably not tonight with this weather though. lol

Did you double check the firing order? I know it sounds simple but sometimes it's easy to get a couple wires mixed up.
