Very easy and 20-100 dollars for the ECM and you'll need another MAP sensor dependent on which bin you use. If you're simply looking at running the $58,$59,or $60 code you can run a 730 ECM with repinned harness but would still need another MAP sensor.

BBZB will be printed on the 749 ECM. this is the broadcast code for the Sy/Ty. this won't work thought, as its for the V6. you will have to buy PROM editing hard/software, and change the # of cylinders from 6 to 8. then you can start to play with the VE tables and whatnot to get it to run right.

Re: lojag 1227749 ecm

Poodu45, this is DIY man...sorry. As much as I'd like to shell out 500 bux for someone to "tune me the perfect bin" it ain't gonna happen. We can certainly help by steering you in the right direction and giving small "freebies" of info / help along the way but this is an area where the rest of the gurus are really only trying to help you learn how to help yourself. Sounds like you need a ZIF adapter from www.moates.com to let you put customer bins into your new ECM. After that you need the hardware neccessary to burn / write that custom bin "tune" to your chip. Where in MI are you again? I travel somewhat frequently to Detroit / Chesterfield

im kinda a noob too, so don't quote me, but i think that the $58 is the mask. the way i understand it, its the program running inside the ECM. there is $59 that has more advanced features like extended VE tables to 6400rpm, reads upto 30psi, WBO2, nitrous/alky control, ect.

Re: lojag 1227749 ecm

I truly hope that I have not offended anyone by my Questions but you have to start somewhere-I am truly excited about tunning with a computer other then a screwdriver and good ear-the basics are the same, it isn't so much going fast, it is acomplishing the sound of an engine running with other then a stock setup-anybody can go fast but I want to learn with my son how to make horsepower with turbo boost and tpi

Re: lojag 1227749 ecm

your not offending me any. i might only know 1 or 2 things more than you when it comes to this. as far as i am concerned, we are on the same page.

what i have done so far is read everything i can on ECM tuning. there is a great thread in the TBI section. while its code is a little differnet from $8d, $58, ect, the same principals apply...motor still needs fuel and spark.

i have also downloaded tunerpro, and worked with that a little. i am still working on securing a lalptop, so i haven't gotten into my car yet. i have only changed constants such as injector sizing, speed limiters, vats removal, ect.

soon i hope to be hooked up to the car, and do some datalogging and see how my changes effect ther car. look into tunerpro, and winaldl. they are both shareware, and many people are using them. hope this helps you some, Jim.

Re: lojag 1227749 ecm

$58,$59,$60 are all bins or "codes". 59&60 are cousins / variants / improvements to the original GM released for Syclones and Typhoons. www.code59.org is a site I was told about that develops and supports the $59 code. 59 is a 3bar map code that is obviously for forced induction cars. Anything naturally aspirated as far as I know only uses 1bar maps (stock 3rd gens). BTW, not offended.
----------
Another BTW, here's my 91 Z28 with a COMPLETELY new drivetrain (everything from throttle body, intake, engine, headers, clutch, driveshaft, rear, you get the picture) running for the first time after 4 years. The ECM and code it's running......749 ECM (cyclone / typhoon) and $59 code.
