FIA blower install on '87 T/A

Looking to upgrade my P1SC setup on my '87 to an FIA cog setup. Tired of belt slippage and only getting about 6psi with a 3.4 pulley. New belt I still only produce about 7-8psi. Motor is highly modified and flows extremely well, so I don't expect the boost level to even surpass 15psi with a cog, but this 8 rib setup is a pain and I'm tired of all the rubber slung under the hood from slippage. Yes, I've added a Cummins tensioner and tried roughing the pulleys,etc.. Simply want the F!A with a cog setup. So, my questions are will the head unit fit the standard P1/D1 bracket and are there any issues with wheel well clearance and the head unit?

Secondly, All my intercooler and piping runs through the wheel wells and under the car. I believe the F1 head has the same discharge position as the P1, correct?

Last, any issues with the Cog pulley on the head unit clearing the radiator? Is the cog pulley the same width as the 8 rib I have now?

Thanks for the insight for those that have done the swap already.

The F1A WILL fit the came bracket as it uses the same bolt pattern, the only real size difference is that its thicker in the body. (think front to back)

Are you looking to buy an F1A, right now?

I have an F1A, its not on me car though.

Thanks. Not too serious yet, but if the right deal comes along i may spring for one. I just really want to go with a unit that flows more than the P1SC that I have and it's a must now for the cog setup. I'm just tired of the slippage headaches..

Re: FIA blower install on '87 T/A

Appreciate the offer. Can you PM me a couple pictures along with a closeup of the serial number? Also, do you have a couple cog pulleys or is it just the head unit?

Thanks.

Re: FIA blower install on '87 T/A

(I can add pics in a pm )-
-edit- I found some of my missing pics-

No cog stuff stuff just the head unit only.

Im missing some of my pics so Ill just give you the few good 1s (I can take more tonight after I get home). Aslo it USE to have that black coating from Procharger be iv taken it off.

2. I also, have a 3 core 1000hp Procharger race intercooler if your looking to upgrade intercoolers (going from a p1/d1 to an F1 is the perfect and best time for an upgrade since youll be taxing your current intercooler.)

$400 shipped for you - or I can meet you half way if you want to buy this stuff in person, if you want.
lmk-

Re: FIA blower install on '87 T/A

Thanks for the offer on intercooler. I've got a big 3 row in there already. I'm gonna sit tight yet on purchasing. I can't see the full serial on the unit, but send it along if you can and if I move forward I'll be ready.. I paid $2k for my P1SC, all brackets and a bunch of pulleys from another member on here about 6 years ago.. Going to try and add another support for the weak procharger bracket. I added a couple already, but one more may stop flex all together and keep the belt from slipping. The Cummins auto tensioner helps but is not doing the total job...

Re: FIA blower install on '87 T/A

Am still still at work - I'll post a good tag pic when I get home.

On the belt slip thing, you could go cog but its gonna cost you. Lol, like everthing else.
Me, with my new-new setup (high boost LS) I went 12 rib right out of the gate. I might have went cog if it wasn't such complexity with it as in-
some cogs don't need a hub...but some need do need a hub?? I'm like wrf, and then I don't really wanna deal with trying to figure out what tooth pulley equals what size.
not to mention cogs are harder on the blowing because they have no slip at all, the serpentine belt allows a slight slip or rather a cushion effect during rpm changes.

Just something to think about is all.

Re: FIA blower install on '87 T/A

This blower was made a few years ago, and sold in a 2013 Camaro kit. (I still have the 12 rib bracket that came with the blower)
