I agree totally there is no reason to build a 305 if it needs a rebuild or bottom end. If you want all out power go with a 350. But if you have a decent 305 and want more power, just bolt some...

You don't need an LT1 intake. Any SBC intake will work, you just need to drill new bolt holes and use some angles washers. Putting LT1 heads on a gen I block is not a matter of just bolting them...

It will work fine if you have low compression. That cam is really small more suited for a 305, but it will work to about 4500 rpm.

I would worry the least about the crank. But good rod bolts are very important. You also might as well go with cap screw rods to eliminate any cam contact problems.

Probably more like 130,000 miles. Or the motor has been completely abused AND THE OIL NEVER CHANGED. Alot of motors with proper maintenance can see well over 100,000 miles and still have no ridge.
