From what I've researched, quite a bit of room can be gained by doing that, if you don't mind cutting up and re-cabbing a core support. Get room to front mount the turbo probably.

The sleeves won't melt. They are some tough stuff. Mine were routed the same way, albeit not pulled quite as tight.
The last tune up I bought some nice MSD custom wires and an Accel left/right side...
