I have an '89 WC T-5 and I recently unhooked the speedometer cable from it to change the cable. When I unthreaded it, a little bit of transmission fluid came out of the hole in the tranny. Even...

Re: Mystery Coolant leak

I don't see any fluid (or dye) at that location. Also, I have about 20 miles on the newest design of the Intake Gaskets for Vortecs (they have some metal in them now). I checked my intake bolts and...

Re: Mystery Coolant leak

Yes - I have tried revving it at idle to get it leak. After driving the UV dye is there - but its all over the place. I think the cooling fan spreads it out everywhere so yes, its hard to see the...

Re: T5 - is this normal (pic)?

Is there a resource out there that has info on what Mainshafts (from other cars) can be substituted for the Camaro V8 Mainshaft?

Re: T5 - is this normal (pic)?

Some options I found:

1)I found a local place that states that they could repair the Mainshaft for $85. This would be building it up and then grinding it back down to spec.

2) I also found a...

Have you tried to use those sleeves before?
Do they not work?

Re: Speedometer Drive Gear

It is a WC T-5 - I don't know from what year though.
I can't look at it from the side anymore because the trans is installed now.
I am taking other opinions on how many teeth are there. :)

Re: Speedometer Drive Gear

The one in the pic above is the actual one that I have. It seems as if you can count 7 0r 8 depending on if you include the smaller ones on the sides.
How many would you say I have?

Re: Speedometer Drive Gear

My speedo is still off (too fast) even though I did the calculations correctly ( I thought).
Dumb question: How many teeth are on my drive gear shown in the pic above ? 7 or 8?

Speedometer Drive Gear

My T5 has a RED drive gear but it only has 7 teeth on it (not 9). Everything I've read on here says that the RED gear has 9 teeth.
Am I missing something here?

Re: Look inside my T-5 (pics) again

Countergear (is that the same as Cluster gear?) - If so, what makes you think that I need that replaced?

Also, how can you tell if the case is stretched?

Re: Look inside my T-5 (pics) again

Do the shims normally have a number on them (for thickness) ? Mine doesn't..

The bearing looks ok to me:

352120

3-4 Shift Fork does have a gouge in it:

Re: Look inside my T-5 (pics) again

Still tryin to decide if I should rebuild this T-5. I checked the end play on the output shaft and it was a lot - like 30 thousands..There was only 1 shim in the front bearing retainer.
