92 to 93 305tbi differences, need help

Hi guys, I 'm putting a motor in my 92 rs and need some help. I found a beautiful running 305 tbi in a 93 gmc 1500 and noticed and read about some differences and need some help on if it will drop...

Re: Knocking Rod or something else?

Either the cracked flex plate mentioned, or check the torque convertor bolts. Maybe the kid vibrated em a bit loose beating on the car. I've seen it happen once on a friend's 80 Z28. Dam thing...

Re: 92 TBI intake on 86 heads

I might try messing with the holes, if I go that route I'd prefer to have a machine shop do it, although budget is an issue. I did find that you can get a tbi adapter for a 4bbl intake, that's...

92 TBI intake on 86 heads

Hey guys, I have a problem that I need some light shed on. I've read some other topics on here but haven't really seen an answer that helps me totally.
I needed to put a motor in my 92 RS 305TBI. ...

Re: 88 camaro when i let of the clutch the car dies.

Well once we establish if operator error is occuring we'll deal with the stalling like the other guys said. For the vibration in 3rd - is this happening with the car jacked up or driving on the road?...

Re: Starter issue

It sounds like a bad starter. If the gear is kinda stripped it's probably not making full contact with the flywheel. Thus why bench testing made it appear fine. Or try rotating the motor a bit and if...

Re: looking for more out of small cubes

Much agreed, which is why I said mild cam earlier. Stock compression is like 9.5:1 on a 305. Qjet or edelbrock/weber style with avs would be best. If you have 3.42s then leave em alone. Like it was...

Re: 92 RS temperature question, tell me if I'm nuts

Exactly what I was thinking. My wife had 4 3rd gen camaros in the past and she remembered her v8 ones running hotter than other cars. Not to say I didn't believe her, she's not car stupid, I've...

Re: 92 RS temperature question, tell me if I'm nuts

Yes, I have read somewhere that 230* is when the fan will kick on, my car has a single fan btw. I am running a 50/50 mix so my boiling point should be round 265. I'm ruling out a head problem right...

Re: looking for more out of small cubes

A good cam is key with a small block, don't go crazy though. A mild Edelbrock will do just fine. Be careful though with a 750 dp. That's a lotta carb for a 305. You don't want to overcarb and bog....

92 RS temperature question, tell me if I'm nuts

Ok guys, I have a 92 RS 305TBI. I've had older GM's before, but this is my first 3rd gen. I bought the car in February. When I first bought it, the cooling system didn't build good pressure due to...

Re: Engine jerking

Take a look at the IAC too, the problem starting when slowing down could be the IAC losing step count. If it's getting stuck from heat, the overnight cool down would explain why it'll crank normally.

Re: 88 GTA engine issue

I've seen in the tool catalogs at work, snap-on or matco, they make a thing that looks like the ignition key that u stick in the terminals to jump em too

Re: 88 GTA engine issue

SES is service engine soon light. The battery light sounds like a voltage regulator issue (in the alternator) . Sometimes my 92 RS's batt gauge fluctuates with the turn signals at idle. But bear in...

Re: Running hot, hard restart, need some advice

Played with the timing tonight, found it was too advanced. I have it at 1* now. Runs cooler and idles lower. Does stall time to time when putting in gear, but the hot restart quality is much better

Re: breaking in new cam xe262???

I would imagine the adjusment they're meaning is if you didn't time it right and had a miss. Unless there's something I don't know about. I've never professed to be a cam expert lol

Re: breaking in new cam xe262???

If you're speaking about your valve timing, u'd know if the cam was out of time. It'd be misfiring. Other than that I'm not quite sure what you mean.

Re: Running hot, hard restart, need some advice

The fuel pump is less than a yr old, u did remind of another symptom, it idled round 900 before I did the intake, now its around 1200. Egr ports were plugged n I cleaned em, didn't have a new valve...

Re: Running hot, hard restart, need some advice

Re: Running hot, hard restart, need some advice

Running hot, hard restart, need some advice

Hey guys, I just bought a 92 RS, 305tbi. I did an intake gasket today and had an issue with it running hot. I'm a Chrysler tech but I don't have a lot of experience with these cars. I know the...
