I have a problem with my 88 camaro. Its v6 with a 5 speed manuel. When i put it in any gear and let of the clutch the car dies. I lifted the rear end and the car shifts fine but when i put it in 3rd gear the car shakes very bad. I took the driveshaft off and the problem is gone i looked at the rear end and there is no damage that is see there is some slap when i move the the end where the drive sheft conects i would say 3/8 of slop is it normal i mean slap in circular motion. The drive sheft looks fine and joints have no slap. I have seen somebody put automatic transmision oil in the manual. I bought the car few weeks ago. Any ideas what could be the problem.

Those 5spd should have atf for fluid. Can you drive it at all? Does it make any noises? Parking brakes stuck?

Have you ever driven a manual b4??
You have to press on the gas while letting out on the clutch. It most likely will not take off from a dead stop in any gear but 1st, maybe second due to the low power of the motor. Stop trying or you'll be putting a clutch in it, maybe more.
What has "slop" ? the transmission output shaft or the rearend yoke?? Trans output shaft will have some slop with driveshaft out. The rearend yoke should not.
Its veeeery hard to read and make any sense of your post.

It moves when i dont let off the clutch all the way but ones i take my foot off the clutch it dies. Its not making any noise but ones i lift the rear end up it shifts and it doesent die but when i put it in 3rd gear while the rear is in the air and let of the gas everything starts shaking.

you didnt answer the main part of the question, do you know how to drive a stick? have you ever been thoroughly explained how to drive a stick? from there we can figure out more.

Well once we establish if operator error is occuring we'll deal with the stalling like the other guys said. For the vibration in 3rd - is this happening with the car jacked up or driving on the road? Sounds like a driveshaft balancing problem. If this occurs on the road, I can walk you through how to balance the shaft with a timing light and hose clamps, it's a good alternative to paying for balancing.

I know how to drive a stick thats not the problem. Its shaking when i have the rear of the car jacked up but when i try driving the car and put it in first i let off the clutch of cours giving it gas the car dies. Kills the motor right away.

are you burning any fluids? i just had a really bad head gasket leak on my car that stopped the car from moving at all, but it would idle

I found the problem its the torq arm mount that monts on the transmition. Does anyone know where i can get one becouse nobody salls it eaven the dealer doesent sale it .

What is wrong with the mount? It's supposed to be a 'clamp' style and the trailing arm slides through it. Even if the torque arm was dragging on the ground it wouldn't make the car stall when you let the clutch out.

The ruber is gone that clamps around it. I think that its the problem but i might be wrong.

If the rubber is gone thats one thing but it won't kill your car when you let out on the clutch.

Buy a poly replacement. search it on google or Im sure someone will look it up and give you the part numbers or link to them.

Ok what do u think it could be than when i lift the rear and of the ground the car shifts and it doesend die. If i move the torq bar with one hand the whole rear end moves with it and there is lots of slop. What would u think it there is no grindindg noise or anything comming from the trany.
