It does help on all engines carbed or FI. It helps with crank deflection which in turn helps rate of acceleration.

I use a DFI so changing when the injector fires is easy for me. You will need to do that also. Other than that your done.

The DFI still uses a IAC and you can adjust the parameters. Its called throttle follower in the dfi.
On factory ECM's the VSS is one of the inputs for the iac. Joe can explain better.

No it is totaly different. Do you have the blower? I have a f-body LT-1 mounting plate for a p600 ATI. with the tensioner if you need it.
